'Marli van Breda and her brother Henri are the main beneficiaries of an estate valued at about R200m.'

Beautiful house, and someone is already wanting to buy it even after what has happened there.

I just don't understand why they aren't arresting 'someone' over these horrible murders/attempted murder? And I agree PS, it seems he's going to get exactly what he wanted after all.

How has the surviving son stayed out of jail?

South Africa justice again found to be wanting, IMO.

Last week, 16-year-old Marli van Breda and her brother Henri met for the first time since an attack at their De Zalze home at the end of January.

The siblings' parents and older brother were all murdered.

Legal representative, Advocate Louise Buikman, said Marli was very pleased to see her brother after their more than four-month separation.

:notgood:

:silenced:

So, did she happen to ask him who murdered their family?

So I assume there are no suspects and this will be on the unsolved murders list. :gaah:

NPA mulls over Van Breda case

The murder docket for the Van Breda family attack, which was returned to the police in May, is now back with the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) for a decision.
The docket was originally handed over to the NPA in March. However, in May, Ntabazalila said the NPA had sent the docket back to the police and that the investigation was not complete. He added this was not unusual and dockets were often sent back for further investigation.

Delays in Marli's testimony will make it less credible - attorney

Cape Town - The longer it takes to get a statement from Marli van Breda, the less credible her testimony will be should the perpetrator be charged with the triple murder of her family, defence attorney Ulrich Roux said on Monday.

Monday marked the six-month anniversary of the axe attack that claimed the lives of Martin van Breda, his wife Teresa and 22-year-old son, Rudi, at the De Zalze Winelands Golf Estate in Stellenbosch.

Marli sustained a severed jugular and severe head injuries that resulted in retrograde amnesia, meaning she cannot recall anything about the attack.

Her brother Henri, 20, suffered light injuries.

No arrests have yet been made.

Roux, a director of BDS Attorneys, told News24 that while it was clear the police were not in a position to make any arrests as they wait for Marli to regain her memory and make a statement on what happened that night, the case would still remain open, “even if it takes 20 years”.

“What will be affected, however, is the credibility of her testimony. The more time lapses, the easier it will be for the defence to attack the reliability of her account,” he said.

“Marli’s testimony is crucial to the state’s case. These are serious crimes.

“Unlike a civil case, where no action can be taken after three years have elapsed, murder cases never fall away.”

Marli is back at school full time and was placed in the care of an aunt and uncle.

Police are keeping mum on the details and possible developments in the investigation.

“No further information will be divulged at this point as we do not want to pre-empt any steps we might embark upon in future,” spokesperson Captain FC Van Wyk said.

The National Prosecuting Authority was also studying the docket, spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila confirmed.

Axe family tries to get on with life
"Asked about progress in the case on Friday, police spokesman Captain Frederick van Wyk said the investigation into the murders was continuing. “There are no new developments to report,” he said." :gaah:

"Du Toit, Teresa van Breda’s sister, was quoted in the magazine saying she had been horrified when she read speculative media reports that Henri had been behind the attack.

“He’s a lovely child who could never do something like that. You know when a child has done something wrong. You can see it in his eyes or body language but with Henri there was nothing." "

A year later and nothing has been done, no arrests & MVB & RVB are happy and life is wonderful. Will try find recent Youtube video about this case to post link to - it's fascinating.

Very interesting analysis of the crime scene here. Better than you'll find in the media. See
