Kudzu, an ever-expanding plant considered a pest in much of the South, appears to contain a compound that can be effective in reducing alcohol intake among humans.

Researcher Scott Lukas did not have any trouble rounding up volunteers for his study, published in this month's issue of Alcoholism: Clinical and Experimental Research.

I can just picture herds of Georgians roaming North Georgia grazing on the Kudzu on Friday afternoons.

Sure, just find the nearest patch and join in!

Seriously, I've tried Kudzu jelly before. Tastes like grape.

Does it really? I heard that Kudzu was so nasty that the cows wouldn't eat it. :D

The greater-Atlanta area is missing out on a goldmine of a money maker.

Let's see, it curbs binge drinking...now if they can just prove that it has the same affect as viagra, we can just let all the men graze on kudzu vine and save medicaid lots of money!

When I was in grad school years ago, I took a science workshop that included this presentation by a lady known as the Kudzu Kueen. She let us sample kudzu jelly. She also made baskets and wreath's with the vines(I think she used other types of vines as well). She made a type of paper out of the leaves. She had a catalog at one time that you could buy t-shirts and other things from. I remember thinking that she needed to get a life. Now, as I rake 3 acres of oak leaves each fall, I wonder if I might try a few of her ideas...oak jelly anyone?
