That's what i wonder, how do you see something is not right about someone like that?
Is a poster that is obsessed and acts like they are the leader of a thread with a groupie following that don't like alternate opinions that are off their script according to the leader a sign of anything more nefarious?
    How can we really know?

    Unbelievable, isn’t it?

IMO the reason for the book was for some kind of noteriety and to make money off his perverted sickness.

With this guy, I could never once pin him down on anything. He would say things about Boulder that just weren’t true and when I asked for further explanation, he just couldn’t provide it. He has a way about him that splits an argument apart and changes the meaning and context. Like the way he chops up paragraphs and answers them a sentence at a time. That’s so disingenuous. And he thought he was so clever and charming.

I was as shocked as everybody to find out he was a child predator. But I thought something was off about him. On the other forum I would leave when he showed up.

Wow. With the holidays and life happening I haven’t been to the site in a while. I caught up on my other cases earlier today, but didn’t make it to JBRs thread. I saw on a gossip website about CBS and Burke settling so I came to catch up. Still haven’t made it to that thread. To say I’m shocked and sickened is an understatement. I mostly scrolled and rolled DHs posts but reading some of the quoted posts from him posted on this thread is just chilling and disturbing. Ugh.

I believe he will get back on the internet. He will not be able to control himself.

He's being held until trial, per the judge.

ETA: Per VINElink he's still at the Northwest State Correctional Facility.

Thanks for explaining your opinion of him. I didn't see the pattern of his personality on the JBR threads because i didn't post there much, but posted on there a bit and don't recall any interactions with him. I do think on any of the threads for a few years most people get a vibe with certain posters, and as you explain you know something is off but can't quite determine what it is.

Listen to your gut feeling is I believe the only way to avoid people like him. Seems many here did have a bad feeling about him but didn't express it previously. I'm not trying to make anyone feel bad, I've had the same experience on other forums and in rl (I have never been active in the JBR forum here). I usually just withdraw. It's not easy to act or say something when someone is so clever and bold and has so many supporters.

Yes, you are very right in what you say and very sound advice and speaks to how i feel too. It can feel overwhelming at times, and withdrawing from a situation is the best thing to do.
We get those feelings about someone intuitively for a reason is also what i have found in real life too, and they are usually right.

OK, I see that you thought I was saying J.H. was " Bluefire".
No, an old post made by RiverRat, who used to own WS, was found and posted here. It stated exactly who " Bluefire" was and it was posted in this thread and I read it when it was posted. It's now been deleted by someone, perhaps due to our TOS. I didn't know the post listing " Bluefire's" identity had been removed.

What I thought you were saying was that no teen pedophile would or could have acted on sick fantasies and urges. I see why there was confusion. You thought I was saying the two were the same person, but the post stating who " Bluefire" was believed to be and location showed there to be two separate posters. Probably one just as deviant and hurtful to children as the other but probably not the same person unless he had expert IP masking abilities in 2000 or so, which I don't think D.H. would have, and don't think " Bluefire" would have used any type of masking IP device as he didn't mince his words saying adults being sexually involved with children was, in his sick mind, a good and natural thing. Makes me sick. Both of them!

I know there are teenage pedophiles who do act against children, and I believe by your response that you think this as well. In my post, I wanted to make sure this is a clear point and the lines between age and assault of a child aren't blurred because of presumed lack of aggression or opportunity due to the perp's age.

I don't think D.H. was in Boulder, no. I didn't say that clearly enough, because of post deletion in the meantime, maybe because personal info was posted about a second person believed to be a pedophile posting on JBR's case years ago as " Bluefire".
I see by the wording of your response that this was a miscommunication.
I apologize for causing you any upset as it was not my intent at all. I'm also sorry for the miscommunication arising from the deleted posts about who " Bluefire" was determined to be by a previous owner of WS when he was posting. He was extremely scary.. and did post in a different manner than D.H.

Likely the deletion was a WS Admin. decision, and because it confuses the issue, I will not mention the earlier pedophile who posted on the case. I know they are 2 separate sickos.

My apologies to ALL. This is a difficult enough topic. I am sorry.

(This reminds me, I just learned in AJ Hadsell’s case that inmates obviously have access to email. What about the web? I’m sure of course their usage is monitored and secured if not completely restricted, especially for DH considering his charges?

    Post for reference:

Not in my experience on LOTS of threads! Sure, there are sometimes a few pushy, rude people and a few followers who agree, but they usually push too hard and end up on TO and are pretty much ignored. But this certainly doesn’t happen on “just about every thread.” Most of us are reasonable people doing our best to respect others’ opinions and have a respectful, even if passionate, discussion.

There are only a few over the years who have been so arrogant and self-promoting about their position that I’ve figured they were more concerned with themselves than with the case or WS. I don’t think we have to view everyone with a strong opinion suspiciously.

Wow, just reading this about DH after a long hiatus from posting in general. It’s disturbing to find out we need to sleuth a sleuther- just not used to that. I’m so sorry to hear of his sick actions. I have had several conversations, mainly about his book. Thoughts go out to all, I personally feel violated.

I totally agree with this. There certainly is a difference and you can usually tell that difference when posting on a thread for a few years there is a set pattern.

I know other people have posted similar things, but I still want to post my thoughts and opinions.

I don't post much here, I mostly lurk and as far as I remember I lurked for years before I ever registered. On Websleuths in general, not just the JonBenet case.

As far as DH goes – I never really read his posts, he seemed to have taken over the JBR section and he seemed to have "fans" and it seemed very strange to me. And I know that he always talked about a book and I thought "who is this". There was just something about him and taking over this section that made me more or less avoid him and his posts. I just looked at the reviews on Amazon and one person said he used all kinds of foul language in the book. I wonder what the people here thought after reading his book and why they still "followed" him?

And the other question I have – when I saw some of his posts posted by someone on this thread with him claiming that children and maybe even JonBenet liked to be abused and someone saying they had to stop reading the book when he mentioned in the book that she might have liked it – how is it even possible that he was allowed to post something like that here and why did nobody really notice that something was wrong with this guy after saying this on here and in his book? Let me rephrase that – some people did notice but I guess because he was so "popular" here didn't know what to do and how to react? Had I ever seen those posts, considering I'm mostly lurking, I couldn't say for sure, but I probably would have reacted to them and not in a "careful" way, meaning, I wouldn't have cared about him being "popular" here. Would have been easier for me though than for people who post more and don't want to become a victim of peer pressure by the DH supporters and then maybe would have had to stop posting.

Don't get me wrong, please, I'm genuinely interested in answers to my questions, they are not meant in any way as criticism towards any of the posters here on Websleuths, because the thing is – he is, sadly, a master manipulator and managed to find followers here because of that and managed to make people not speak up against the BS he posted, so he literally managed to divide the board. That's nobody's fault, it's only his fault, he seems to be a full blown psychopath. And now in hindsight, when you know what he is and what he did, it's easy to look at his posts and see that it was always right there in front of everybody. Definitely not a case of "he always seemed like a friendly and normal guy".

Somebody posted earlier in this thread how he could even stand to be here considering that people here say bad things about child molesters all the time – my guess and opinion is that he didn't care about that and that he even got a kick out of hiding in plain sight and finding so many followers that despise child molesters. Knowing that he is one but they don't know, they even respect him. And don't really notice when he sneaks in comments like "children like it".

Do I think that if you are interested in true crime and read and/or post about this subject anywhere on the internet (including youtube and youtube videos and the people who make youtube videos about crimes) that you will also read posts, maybe even reply to them, by perps? Including child molesters and even serial killers? Yes, definitely. That's a very disturbing thought, but I do believe that this is what happens and I keep running into people that seem very strange and that seem to be interested in true crime or a certain type of crime for all the wrong reasons. This includes a few people who make youtube videos, they might not have committed any crimes themselves but they also have this creepy kind of arrogance, are looking for attention and for example sneak in misogynist comments while mostly making videos about women who were killed. I've seen content creators on youtube also inserting themselves into crimes (like contacting friends and family of the victims and also police), sometimes it seems ok and like they do it because they want to make videos to help find missing people, etc., but sometimes it seems just strange and attention seeking and like they do it for the wrong reasons.

Years ago I watched a couple of documentaries about serial killers on youtube (I am not particularly interested in serial killers and didn't watch many of those documentaries since then) and always looked through the comments and they are full of people posting how they watch documentaries about serial killers all the time, have tons of books about them and how this is something they have been interested in for a very long time – I am not saying they are all serial killers, but with the way they are interested in them you get the feeling that most of them live vicariously through them. It's creepy. And probably another reason why I don't really like to watch those documentaries anymore, it's just creepy to me to know that there are people who watch it and enjoy it in a sick way.

And I just want to point out again, my questions are just that, questions, and not an attack against any posters on here. I know what it is like to be manipulated by a psychopath, I had more than one in my life and it is really hard to see through them. Maybe my experience makes it a little easier for me to spot them. Plus, on the internet it might also be a little easier than in real life because as long as you don't engage with them (or not much) you see what's going on from the outside (including reactions to them and how sometimes a larger group of people falls under their spell, which in itself is very telling), if you are their victim in real life you are stuck right in the middle of it and at least for a while can't see the forest for the trees.

    Just found this:

    Ask Super Part 2

He posted what he also wrote in the book (I wish I could pay attention to usernames and actually remember them - somebody posted the picture of the page in the book, but I think DH's post is longer).

This is so disturbing, of course even more now and with hindsight, but there is a huge difference between saying "I think Patsy did it, JonBenet made her angry with something and she was so upset that she hit her with something but she didn't mean to hurt or harm or even kill her, I think it was an accident" and this crazy movie script like fantasy that really says nothing about a theory he had but everything about what is going on in his own sick mind.
