Here is another post where I don't understand why nobody reported it:

    Prior Vaginal Trauma

The third post on the page.

He again said this: "More than one child has said that they liked it."

The work "liked" was bolded by him.

The entire post is creepy, especially now that we know what he did, one other thing that he posted, bolded by him:

"It's their innocence and inability to fight back that makes them such tempting targets."

I don't know if a "normal" person would describe them as "tempting targets".

He also said that some children just process it as part of life and move on and that the vast majority never shows any signs of being molested (yeah, I get it, he was trying to say that child molestation doesn't harm the child, what a monster).

And then there is also this:

"And even if they DO know it's wrong, children are extremely easy to manipulate through bribery or intimidation. Couple that with the child's own fear that if they do tell an adult, the adult won't believe them and might punish them for telling "lies," especially if the perp is a loved one."

So yeah, it's so obvious now (and I know I'm repeating myself - and creepy) that he spoke from experience.

ETA: The "Ask Super" threads are just insane! I remember seeing them but never paid much or any attention to them. I wonder how people would react if I just started an "Ask Miya" thread and started it by saying "Now is your chance, ask away!" as if I was important and as if my opinions are worth a lot more than anybody else's. He made this section all about himself, it's supposed to be about the JBR case and he made it all about him "look at me, look at me, I am important, me me me". I find it a bit confusing that people actually let him do this.

Miya, I wasn’t more than an occasional reader of the JBR forum, but I have to speak up and defend those who were. You don’t know that his posts were not reported. “The people who actually let him do this” were the ones in charge of Websleuths. Tricia has admitted that she did not see through DH, even though she had him on her radio program. She has taken responsibility for this. So please stop blaming members.

Feds charge Rutland man for child porn

I don't think this article has been posted yet. The below text is BBM. I'm sure the tears are for himself, and not for any of his victims.

In the local affidavit, Ashe said Hughes cried during the interview and denied having ever been inappropriately touched when he was a child.

“I don’t understand. I hate people that harm children like that. How could I be one person and then another,” Hughes said, according to the affidavit.

During the interview, Hughes asked Ashe to help him, the affidavit said.

I looked through DH's for the section about the suggestion that JBR "enjoyed" being assaulted and thought I should post it for clarity

Wow, that is sickening - so in his example the abuse continued from 6 years old until she was a teenager because she grew to like it?

And add to that this one review on Amazon about how he used foul language calling people names, etc. ...

I am quite shocked actually how he and his followers were able to promote his book on here for years ...

And lilibet, it's not about blaming, it's also not about posts being reported (if the ones where he mentioned that "children like it" and that Jonbenet "may have liked it" were reported and nothing came of it, that would be shocking also). But my questions are not about reporting posts, I don't understand why nobody replied to those particular parts of his posts. Quote the part and reply how he can claim that children like it. Make others aware of what he posted, people who might not have paid enough attention or were so busy with supporting him that they turned a blind eye on those things.

I am almost a bit angry at myself now for never really reading his posts, because I would have quoted it and I would have said that that's what pedophiles claim and how he can say that while at the same time acting like he is a "victim's advocate" and wants this crime to be solved. My question is why did the people who read his posts, his followers and also the people who didn't like him, not react to that, as in - reply to it, point out WHAT he actually said. Master manipulator or not, claiming that children like it is a huge red flag.

I mostly lurk. JonBenet was my gateway here. I mod on another very busy forum and from my observations here I believed that SD was some sort of super-user, or subject matter expert, who wasn’t a mod because he stayed only in one area, but who had some sort of informal sanction to be a resident expert in the JB threads.
I was intimidated by his apparent status and superior attitude in the JB threads (seriously, he had his own “Questions for SuperDave” thread) and because I was new, decided it was better to just avoid him in case I made myself look like an idiot by displaying my (comparative) lack of knowledge.
I think crowd dynamics were strongly at play here. I assumed his tone/superior attitude/opinions were appropriate simply because he was well entrenched long before I popped by.
Sadly we are not conditioned to point fingers or raise concerns when we feel that we are a lone voice. I regret that now but hindsight makes it easy. In the moment I’m not sure I would have done anything differently.

I'm trying to look at this from another perspective which doesn't lay blame to anyone here for supporting this horrible man, they often do find a little niche where they can discuss their favourite subject under a cloak of respectability and none question it.

If posters came down on him like a ton of bricks, openly accused him of a hidden agenda and of dark secrets in his closet, he may have remembered those videos he made and destroyed them. These children would never have received justice and he would never have been imprisoned and labelled for life as what he is, a child molester.

Just everyone think of it this way, no one here let him get away with molesting a child on their watch, his confidence and this safe haven may have been his undoing. Peace.

The bolded part - yeah, that was my impression as well, without reading his posts (I'm sure I saw one here or there because I remember thinking that he seems arrogant, but I didn't see the really bad ones and, like I said before, because he seemed strange and arrogant, I mostly avoided reading his posts and threads, I also don't care if someone is an official expert or if the situation they create makes them look like one, if they are arrogant and seem toxic to me, I will not take the person seriously). Because there was this book that he was talking about, writing the book, then it was released, he and his followers promoted it here (which made me think it must be very good but thank God never bought it), then the "Ask Super" threads - it really seemed to me that he is some kind of special user. Like some unofficial expert with some people here knowing more about him (like ... he could be a journalist, LE, some more or less famous true crime author, whatever).

I still think, had I seen the mentioned posts, that I would have probably replied, maybe I would have reported them or pm'd a mod/admin. Even with mostly just being a lurker.

And yes, I think the feeling of being a lone voice was part of why he could play his game here. Like I said before, he managed to divide the forum and managed to silence those who thought there was something wrong with him and how he acted. He is a conman and the forum was his victim for years.

Of course what he did to the children in real life was much, much worse and the forum and the people who fell under his spell here will be ok, the children's lives will never be the same again. Also, like others have said before, there might be a lot more victims, even children who are adults now and possibly still suffering because of what he did to them. I hope that somehow his posts on here will help LE and the DA.

People just have to be really careful with the people in the true crime community on the internet, like I said before, there will be perps posting sometimes, they will also manipulate people sometimes. Just be careful with who you follow.

If you just look at his profile here and some people leaving him comments mentioning their children, even with knowing that he is in jail and at least for now can't do anything to anyone anymore, it makes me sick to think that he also might have tried to become "friends" with parents on here and on the internet in general. I just hope he will stay in prison for a very long time after his trial.

    Hey Everyone,

No one is responsible but SuperDave. Other than if a person or persons knew he was molesting kids it is no one's fault but DAVID HUGHES!

I want everyone to stop blaming people on this forum.

If you ever see a post that you feel clearly shows someone is a pedophile then you should report it to the police then to Websleuths. If you see a post that makes you uncomfortable you should report it to Websleuths.

When I invite someone on my show I know about as much as you do about the person I am interviewing. They usually have a book to promote. If the book is something that would be of interest to our members I will have the author on my show. I will do a quick Google search and then I interview them. Dave was no different. People bought his book, it was something our posters were interested in so I had him on my show.

What this has done to make my ability to trust people even smaller. When I bought Websleuths I was so naive I let people advertise their businesses in their signature line. LOL. That went over well. And that was the start of my trust of people becoming smaller and smaller.

This thread will be left open for a little while longer but I will be closing it soon. Unless we have an update on Dave's case. Then we can revisit opening Dave's discussion.

    Thanks, everyone,
    Take care

If I was hunting for a child predator on the Internet, this comment would raise a red flag for me...

Walnut Brain? It’s the worst thing I’ve read about him so far. He’s thinking too much about JBs dead body. This in combination with other things he has said about every inch of JB private parts makes me think of necrophilia. I read way too many of his comments today going way back.

I would say this is an escalation of ideation. And him being in custody may have saved the next girl’s life. Sometimes I think he may have known he needed to be caught. But you can’t really conclude he’s the only one here, or anywhere else for that matter.

On that other forum he had/has allies who like to brigade the other side with him to drive people away from an honest conversation. I mean, I’ve been downvoted for every ingenious thing I’ve ever said there.

So, for anyone who feels guilty, you shouldn’t because he is a sly character with nefarious intentions. We should all BOLO for other wolves in sheep’s clothing.

Every one should speak up. Say something sooner. Like... maybe we shouldn’t be so graphic in talking about JonBenet’s girly parts.

BBM, Yes they think they are smart and act arrogant toward other posters like the know it all's they think they are, judging by what i am reading here about SD.
And there is usually leakage in their posts as SD also showed.
Perhaps being overly obsessed with just one case as well?
I guess predators come in all guises, and sometimes it is hard to tell what a person's real agenda is when they are always wanting to be the center of attention on a thread and shoot down other people's opinions over their own. All IMO.

I also think SD took it to the extreme by writing a book and having his own little Q & A thread like he was an expert on the case. But as i have mentioned previously that was probably more to make money and profit from his sick perverted acts.

Thank you for posting this, I saw this post yesterday but then kept looking through his posts and forgot to link it here.

The bolded parts - yes, that are my thoughts as well. Why would he even need to know what they did, how would this have helped solve the case? Or what does it have to do with the case and who did it? Nothing. So what was the purpose? Just writing out his sick fantasies. And getting replies from people that he could reply to and sort of live out his fantasies even more using the people who replied like tools. He is a monster.

And of course nobody should feel guilty, like I said, he is a master manipulator and I think that he is a full blown psychopath. I doesn't mean I am not confused about some things, but I think I am having problems to make myself clear and why I was asking certain questions. I wish I could explain myself better, I am trying to understand the dynamics, if that makes sense, the blame is 1000 % on him.

From a lot of his posts you can also tell that he knew what he was feeling AND doing was wrong, because he did not only say "they like it" - which would imply he thought nothing was wrong with it, he said in a lot of posts that it is not right to do this to children. So I'm sure over the years, for the people who followed the discussions, it must have been confusing, they got mixed messages from him and probably sort of suppressed the bad ones maybe? That might even be the answer to my questions, that he is a manipulator, conman, liar and with all this made people see what they wanted to see and ignore what he wanted them to ignore. Like a magic trick.

But yeah, I don't know if he wanted to get caught, but he definitely knows right from wrong.

I'm sure he wanted to make money but also - another magic trick - write a book about this case, make people think that it will be the best book about this case ever, hype it before you even start to write the first chapter (it took him about 8 years to get it released, I think, after joining the board - and I saw on Amazon it only has a little over 200 pages). Make yourself look more important than the average user with that. And then make people buy it without knowing what you really are. He must have gotten a huge kick out of that.

I just started looking through this thread:

    SuperDave's book-is it still a go?

Not only did he hype the book for years (like I said, I think before he ever started writing it - but then he had to write and release it at some point or people would have gotten at least a little bit suspicious over the years), he kept saying how the book belongs to all of the people here, how they basically all helped, enjoyed having people think that he might be Kolar, people thought he was so important that they asked him if he thinks Kolar made sure his book was released before DH's book and he said that he never spoke to Kolar but that it might be possible. I'm actually thinking that Kolar had never heard of DH or that he is writing a book.

He let people here pick the title for the book, he even mentioned that he used suggestions for titles of the chapters of the book, etc. Looking through this thread now you can see how he enjoyed all the attention and you can see the psychopathic manipulation. He is also acting like everybody is his "soulmate", which they like to do to create a bond.

Agree, they are manipulators for sure, and play their sick little mind games with other people thinking they are fooling everyone. So glad this pervert got caught, and sorry that WS attracted such a ***, that has impacted on the posters that posted with him and maybe trusted him. It is true that we never really know who is behind a computer screen.

Oh true, what a horrid thought. Wonder if LE have found that he has been active with that kind of stuff previously as well, like the dark web when LE are investigating those types of predators?
