Actually, I only post in this thread because this is the case I have been most interested in since the beginning. I don't think that alone would make me suspicious.

I think if the children are identified in the video, they might not have to testify because it can be clearly seen what happened to them. Different story if there is no video proof of the crime. But different states have different laws, so not completely sure. I truly hope they do not have to relive that horror in front of a room full of strangers, some antagonistic to them.

Surprised this person was caught but not surprised that he's been charged.

Tadpole, you are one heck of an awesome sleuth!

I’m still flabbergasted by this. The last time I exchanged off-site messages with Dave, quite a long time ago, before all this came out of course, it was about his book concerning the JBR case. I think there was still one copy left wherever it was for sale and I purchased it. (I later threw it into the paper recycling bin at our county landfill to ensure it was good and truly out of circulation.) I remember thinking it was more like a personal journal, with all sorts of opinions tossed in where it seemed inappropriate given the otherwise factual tone he used. A thing that bothered me then, and does even more now, is that he did not credit the photographer of the picture of the miserable, hunched-up girl on the cover. Nor did he identify the child. I hope it wasn’t one of his alleged victims.

In reviewing this thread, I just found I already posted about the book and the photo. Tadpole12 says SD mentioned somewhere that it was a stock photo. It’s still creepy.

Adult victims of rape or other trauma may never feel entirely safe even if their perpetrator is locked away, or even is dead. It is likely they will go on to question their own judgment and human value, which can affect everything (and everyone) else in their lives. They will look at strangers and wonder if that person is capable of doing what that other long-ago stranger did to them. Speaking from personal experience as well as long study of the topic.
