I do believe that there needs to be an investigation into these allegations, for everyone's benefit, including Judge Kavanaugh's.

I don't feel comfortable at what seems to be "rushing" the vote in the midst of all of this.

Maybe I am alone in feeling this way. I just don't like this "rushing" to vote because I don't feel it would benefit anyone. The accusers and witnesses deserve to be heard, just as Judge Kavanaugh deserves to be heard.

Just my opinion.

I have a problem with all of this coming out in the 25th hour. If they do investigate, and find out that the accusations are false or are politically motivated, she should be charged. If this turns out to be a manufactured claim, it does so much harm to the true victims of rape. It should have been investigated the moment the accuser brought to the democrat's attention.

No one is being accused of burning anyone with a cigarette.

Furthermore, being accused of allegedly "burning someone with a cigarette" isn't even in the same category of being accused of allegedly sexually assaulting/raping someone.

I fail to understand the comparison of "burning someone with a cigarette" with allegations of sexual assault/rape.

Just saw a brand new commercial featuring the girls in high school Kavanaugh did NOT rape. Why have they tried to sell this image of him? So many ads featuring him being escorted by women to his hearings. Surrounded by his girl's softball team. Trying to sell him as champion of women when he supposedly wants to limit their rights. Just in last year he tried to delay, block an underage immigrant from obtaining an abortion--the Garza case. He was overruled.

Breaking a 5th allegation coming in. That's three for today.

If I were accused of burning someone with a cigarette, I would deny it and probably assert that not only did I not burn someone, but I don't even smoke. Has nothing to do with me believing or not believing a non-smoker capable of that kind of assault.

I believe that is why Kavanaugh brought up his virginity.

If I knew I were innocent, I'd welcome a full FBI investigation to exonerate me. If not, I'd say something more like hey I didn't even smoke then. I abstained from smoking, I never even took a drag until many years later..... let's just have that vote friday and not worry about cigarettes.

Where are you finding info about the 5th accuser? I just peeked at Twitter, which is usually on top of breaking news, and am not seeing anything. Gotta link?

It is now more than one claim. Democrats were trying to honor the request of Ford not to be identified.
No reason that it couldn't still be investigated except October is coming.
Republicans want Kavanaugh in power by October.Funny that some are ignoring that bit of political maneuvering. IMO

I don't think that maneuvering is being ignored at all, but it's a bit difficult to discuss on the thread because of the no politics rule.

I understand but I do see some posts claiming that Democrats haven't been aboveboard and some seem to miss that the Republicans also have motives. IMO

Unless Tricia decides otherwise, Kavanaugh is the accused and his accusers are considered the victims in this matter. They are to be discussed according to Websleuths victim friendly policies.

My husband also has calenders from years past.

I’ve been interviewed as part of an FBI background check for a former work colleague who was entering the government sector. High-level security clearance.

The interview was relatively superficial, considering. Met the investigator at a coffee shop, she showed me her badge, and asked me about 15 questions. I was the applicant’s former boss. I was asked for no corroborating documentation as to anything I answered. The entire process took about 10 minutes. I didn’t even have time to order a cup of coffee.

My husband and I were given as references for a friend who had to work in a nuke plant. It was to do maintenance.
( they wear badges which tell them how much radiation they are absorbing)

They should have checked the people who give the references, I belonged to different organizations that protested nukes.
