Police call disappearance of West Valley woman suspicious

Police are now calling the case of a missing West Valley woman suspicious.
Susan Powell's family of four disappeared over the weekend. Now her husband, Josh Powell, and two small children have resurfaced, but 28-year-old Susan is nowhere to be found.

West Valley City police looking for missing woman
Police are looking for a missing West Valley City woman who was last seen Sunday at her home.
Capt. Tom McLachlan said Susan and Joshua Powell and their kids were reported missing by family members Monday. Susan Powell's parents called police after not being able to find the family at home. They also checked with their employers and neither Susan nor Joshua Powell went to work Monday.

Search ongoing for missing West Valley woman
"We're looking at it across the whole spectrum," he said. "Could it be that she has taken off on her own? It possibly could. Could it be something else? It possibly could. We just don't have enough to nail it down one way or another."
Susan Powell was last seen at her home, 6254 W. Sarah Circle. She is 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighs about 130 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call the West Valley Police Department at 801-840-4000.

Police search for WVC mother of two
WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (ABC 4 News) - The West Valley City Police Department is asking for the publics assistance in locating 28-year-old Susan M. Powell.
Police say Powell was last seen at her home on 6254 West Sarah Circle at around 10:00 p.m. Sunday night. She was reported missing by family members Monday morning.

Candlelight Vigil Held For Missing Susan Powell
Joshua Powell is still not able to give details or answers as to the disappearance of his wife, however, friends and family held a candlelight vigil in honor of Susan Powell. More than 25 friends stood in the freezing cold temperatures in hopes of finding their dear friend and loved one.

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (ABC 4 News) - West Valley City police haven't made any arrests in the case of a missing mother who hasn't been seen since Sunday but they say her disappearance is suspicious and there are more questions than answers after interviewing her husband.
ABC 4 News spoke with Susan Powell's father about her suspicious disappearance.

Missing West Valley City woman's case turning 'suspicious'
Charles Cox spoke with his son-in-law Joshua Powell by phone briefly Tuesday before Powell's second interview with police.
"He called and told me Susan was missing," Cox said during a phone interview from his home in Payallup, Wash. "He sounded tired and kind of down. He broke up just a little bit."

Police Continue Search for Missing West Valley City Woman
WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah - Thursday was day four for missing West Valley woman, Susan Powell. West Valley police and detectives went out to Utah's West Desert Thursday to scour the area where Powell's husband, Josh said he and their kids went camping. Capt. Tom McLachlan says that they were there to verify husband, Josh Powell's story. Police say there was no sign of Susan and because of fresh snow, no sign anyone camped there.
"We brought out two dogs, and we also brought out ATV's, mules, a rhino, just to cover some of the area and basically none of us have ever been out here," says West Valley Police's Capt. Anita Schwemmer.

Stockbroker Mom Disappears in Utah, Husband Questioned
Family members and police have stepped up their search for a Utah mother of two who vanished over the weekend.
Stockbroker Susan Powell, 28, has been missing since Sunday. Her husband Josh says he last saw her getting ready for bed about 12:30 a.m. and left her sleeping while he went camping with the couple's two young sons.

Friends and neighbors hold vigil for missing West Valley woman
Josh was at Thursday's vigil with their two children, but he would not speak to KSL News about Susan's disappearance.
The vigil's organizer, Kiirsi Hellewell, is a very good friend of Susan's. She said Susan is very responsible and would never have left without telling anyone. Hellewell said she's certain something bad has happened to her friend.

Neighbors say disappearance of West Valley woman is suspicious
WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (ABC 4 News) - Friends of Susan Powell say the missing woman's husband shows little interest in finding her.
Susan Powell has been missing since Sunday night. Friends have been putting up flyers and posting updates on Facebook. Meanwhile, friends say Joshua Powell seems to be very calm about the situation.

Mystery Surrounds Missing Utah Mom
Father and kids return from camping trip to find mother gone.
I don't think she's OK. No one has heard from her," Susan Powell's father, Charles Cox, said. "Josh and the boys are back, and she wouldn't leave her children."
The West Valley City Police found her purse and keys in her bedroom.
"The suspicious nature of this is that no one can tell us, or is [willing to tell] us her whereabouts, and she has not contacted us or anyone we know about," Capt. Tom McLachlan told the Salt Lake Tribune.
Police officials interviewed Joshua Powell, as well as the couple's 4-year-old child, but walked away with more questions than answers, they told ABC News.

They've had problems for a very long time and that's very obvious when you spend a short time with them, you can tell ... they're roommates," friend Tim Peterson told the station.
Peterson said Joshua Powell wouldn't talk about Susan when he asked where she was Wednesday night, according to ABC 4.
"I told him if my wife came up missing, I'd be going nuts, I'd be out looking for her. What do you think?" Peterson said. "He's like, the cops are handling all that."

Police say that Powell is not considered a suspect at this time. "The suspicious nature of this is that no one can tell us, or is [willing to tell] us her whereabouts, and she has not contacted us or anyone we know about," Capt. Tom McLachlan told the Salt Lake Tribune.

Police Call Search for West Valley Woman 'Highly Suspicious'
Police in Utah say about 30 detectives are looking for leads in the search for a 28-year-old mother who went missing last weekend. West Valley City Police Capt. Tom McLachlan said Friday afternoon that friends and family still had not heard from Susan Powell as detectives tried to figure out where she could be.
"It's still a missing person case. It's highly suspicious," McLachlan said Friday. "We are putting practically every detective we have on this case."

Father hopes for safe return of daughter, knows time is running out
WEST VALLEY CITY -- Five days after a West Valley City woman disappeared, her father has now come to Utah. He's pleading for the safe return of his daughter: 28-year-old Susan Powell.
Charles Cox is frustrated and heartbroken over Susan's disappearance. He flew in to Salt Lake City Friday night from his home in Washington to meet with police and all of Susan's friends who are praying for her safe return.
"It's tough. You don't know," Cox says. "They're grown, married; they're on their own, but it's still your daughter."
