A but off topic but I have heard of instances where a jury has come back with not guiltt and the judge has thanked them but overruled it. Can that actually happen??? Not sure whether it was USA or UK or some other country....

Don't think so in Qld. Any other lawyers like to comment.

Defence case was Gerard did not want to be with Toni McHugh, so no need to kill his wife to be with her - judge. #badenclay

Judge tells jury that the defence argued "an unplanned, spontaneous murder was as unlikely as a premeditated one" #badenclay @tennewsqld

Can we start a new poll -- what do you think the verdict should be?

It'd be different to the first one in that people started voting on it before all the evidence was heard and also this one would be what you think it should be not what you think it will be... closer to a juror's vote.

My vote, should be = murder, will be = manslaughter
