Gerard Baden-Clay to stand trial for murder

    March 20, 2013

Before a packed court room on Wednesday morning, Chief Magistrate Brendan Butler ordered Mr Baden-Clay face trial in the Supreme Court

‘‘I'm of the opinion the evidence is sufficient to put the defendant on trial on the offences charged,’’ Mr Butler said.

‘‘It will be for the jury to assess the evidence ...

As Mr Butler formally committed Mr Baden-Clay to stand trial, he asked the 42-year-old real estate agent to stand.

‘‘You are charged that on or about the 19th day of April 2012 at Brisbane in the state of Queensland you murdered Allison June Baden-Clay,’’ Mr Butler said.

‘‘You are further charged that on or about the 19th of April 2012 at Brisbane in the state of Queensland you improperly interfered with a dead human body,’’ Mr Butler said.

I feel a bit like I did at this point in the Daniel Morcombe trial. But I think about that Farquarson and the Kelli Lane trials. We just have to wait and see and hope that justice will be served.

One thing that doesn't seem to have turned up as admissible (pls correct me if wrong) was the Indro Pillar Crash with no brake marks. Would have loved to have heard about GBC squirming as Fuller raised his eyebrows about that one. It fleshes out the story one little bit more.

Disappointed that the crash marks have now been painted over - used to look at it every time I went past and think - not long now you little modsnip!

Ooh yes, I didn't think about that! Funny the defence didn't use it as a way to try and get sympathy for Gered. Even they realise how pitiful the 'accident' was!

Can't wait to hear your report on the atmosphere and other things that are lost in tweeted statements.

    I don't think we'll see a verdict today.
Mr Fuller still has to finish and then the judge will give his speech before the jury retires.
I have a feeling the judges talk may go on for a while.

Hopefully a verdict before the weekend if not let GerRed sweat it out a bit longer
