Looking for a new home and have about £235,000 (about $384,000) to spend? Probably best not to look around in London, England.

That amount there (in Harringay, so not even in the expensive part of the city) will get you the country's narrowest house - all 84 inches of it. It's thought to have been built in the driveway between two houses. It does have a roof terrace though, although nowhere in the description does the word spacious appear, unsurprisingly.

Funniest thing of all though - it's certain to sell, though it hasn't yet.

Here's one in Paris, 39 rue du Château d'Eau. About 56 inches wide. It's still there but I can't find out how much it's worth though. Apparently built in spite after a dispute over a passage between two houses.

I've used the old pic because it looks so grotty now, and I don't want to shatter anyone's illusions about the City of Romance. :)

In Amsterdam the houses are mostly narrow.Tax collectors charged according to width so people built up.
