Closing arguments: Attorneys for Potter women convicted of ‘Facebook Murders’ want new trials

A jury found Barbara Potter and Jenelle Potter guilty in 2015 for playing a role in the shooting deaths of Bill Payne and Billie Jean Hayworth.

Wednesday marked the second day of the post-conviction hearing for Jenelle and Barbara. A judge heard the final closing arguments this second and final day of the hearing.

It is an argument of “new evidence” as defense attorneys ask the judge to grant the duo new trials.

Now that the post-conviction hearing has wrapped after day two, the judge will decide if the two Potter women should be granted new trials – a new appeal – or stay in prison for life. This decision will be reached in the coming months.

This case needs an update. Just watched a replay of 20/20 tonight called Am I Next?, with an update on Barbara Potter.
Seems she declined a retrial and she pled guilty. Said she was not going to cover for her daughter anymore. Instead of life without parole she received life with a chance for parole.Article below states 25 years.
Janelle and Marvin lost appeal and serving life. The episode stated Jaime had been released but declined interview.

Barbara Potter on Wednesday was sentenced to 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to her role in the so-called “Facebook murders,” for which her husband and daughter are serving life sentences.

What wasn't clear is if there was any actual online harassment by Billy and Billie or if Janelle made every single bit of it up... Was there some back and forth? We know Janelle made up Chris and made up many of the more sordid details..
