The man charged in the abduction and murder of Memphis jogger and teacher Eliza Fletcher, has been indicted with another abduction from 2021.

Cleotha Henderson, 38, was rebooked at the Shelby County Jail on Friday on charges of aggravated rape, especially aggravated kidnapping and unlawful carrying of a weapon.

The charges appeared in the Shelby County criminal justice portal Friday. The court records show the indictment was handed down Thursday.

Details of the newest allegations against Henderson were not immediately available Friday night. Memphis Police did not respond to calls seeking comment after hours Friday.

The charges are dated as September 21, 2021, and two abductions or kidnappings were reported in the public safety database that day.

I can't even with this guy. How many more victims are out there?? I hope he pleads guilty in exchange for LWOP so I never have to see his face or hear his name ever again and he sits in a jail cell the rest of his life with no attention whatsoever. Sitting through at least 3 separate trials (and counting) would be unbearable. IMO

Codis results are cross referenced in the system right? Meaning the results would show a match regardless of name? Why would it take a year to match his DNA?

I guess there could be other reasons unrelated to a DNA match, I'm tired and can't come up with any tonight.

Correct. I thought they were r/t Eliza at first sight but then realized it’s an entirely different case number from a separate case in 2021. So he raped and kidnapped someone else and seemingly got away it for almost a year while roaming the free world. Infuriating.

A Memphis Police Department Public Information Officer told Fox News Digital that the new aggravated kidnapping and aggravated rape charges are "unrelated" to the crimes that Henderson allegedly committed against Fletcher, but said he didn't have any additional information to share.

I think many WS members thought this was gonna be a possibility. I read many posts that thought this particular perp would have committed multiple crimes over his 2 years out in society. Bravo they called it and they were correct and the information is beginning to come forward.

I agree. If CA-H didn't rape Eliza, I think it may only be that in retaliation for her putting up a fierce fight, he may have killed her before he had a chance to rape her. I fear he kept her alive long enough to do that, though.

A woman told police in September 2021 that Cleotha Abston (who is also known by the last name Henderson) had abducted and raped her at gunpoint, yet Abston, who was released from prison in November 2020 for another kidnapping 20 years earlier, remained free until he was arrested last week for Fletcher’s murder.


It was not clear late Friday precisely why police had failed to arrest and charge Abston last year. One person familiar with the case said police even had a DNA match from the state crime lab. Another stated flatly, “They have a good case.”

A spokesperson for MPD could not be reached late Friday.
