They're gonna continually delay it until its a non-story and then it'll get plead down to next to nothing and he'll get a slap on the wrist.

Its how these types never do any serious jail time.

Suspect in Emma Walker murder wants trial moved

On July 7, Gaul’s attorney filed a motion to have his client’s trial moved outside of Knox County, citing ‘undue excitement’ against Gaul. In the filing, he quotes Judge Bob McGee, who attorneys claim said “The community tensions are running feverishly high. This is quite a hot case.”

The filing includes dozens of vitriolic social media comments on local news sites against Gaul.

The Knox County District Attorney’s office responded in the filings: “A change of venue would only be appropriate after an attempt has been made to seat a jury in Knox County.”

William Riley Gaul appeared in court Wednesday. His trial date on charges related to the death of 16-year-old Emma Walker was set for April 30. It had initially been scheduled for December 4.

Jury selection is set to begin Monday at the trial of William Riley Gaul, a former Maryville College football player charged in the 2016 shooting death of his 16-year-old ex-girlfriend.

Gaul, 19, has remained free on a $1 million bond since he was indicted on charges including first-degree murder, especially aggravated stalking and tampering with evidence.

Dan Abrams Law and Crime is streaming the trial live. The defense surprised all with their opening by agreeing that RG did in fact use his Grandfather's gun and fire bullets "blindly" through the wall of EW bedroom. Defense will argue that RG did not intend to kill EW but wanted to be her hero/rescuer.

Murder Trial Day 2: Court ended today around 5:15p EST and would have gone longer except witness was not present.

Gaul wouldn’t let it go, even after Walker blocked his phone number. He allegedly continued to contact her via anonymous text messages, and pretending to be a “man in black” seen in the neighborhood. In one instance, she got anonymous text messages saying someone she knew was in trouble outside a home she was visiting, and she went outside to find Gaul in a ditch. It was a hoax concocted by Gaul, Allen said.

According to the state, Walker clearly wanted to stay away from Gaul, even telling her parents to start setting their alarm system. The night Walker died, Gaul borrowed a friend’s phone to beg for her attention via multiple phone calls and texts.

I'm watching the trial footage from May 2nd. One of Emma's friends looks soooo angry while he is answering questions from the defense. I don't blame him.

Appears Riley is wiping tears off his face while his grandfather testifies on 5/2, and keeps his head turned and does not look at him.

I did not know this- Riley made a suicide attempt in the weeks before he murdered Emma, as per grandfather in testimony on 5/2. He was admitted to the hospital and spent 24 hours there.

Two days before Riley murders Emma, he steals his grandfather's gun from under the front seat of his grandfather's car during the 1-1/2 hours that his gfather is taking Riley's car to get new tires put on. Gfather has concealed carry permit and keeps gun under his seat in a holster when he is in the car. He notices the holster is empty as soon as he gets back into the car and calls Riley, who denies knowing anything about it.

To gfather's credit, he called the head football coach later that afternoon to tell him what happened. He states, to his knowledge, football coach "did nothing." Gfather then reported the gun stolen to police on Sunday. That night, Riley kills Emma.
