KNOXVILLE, Tenn — It’s been nine days since the Knoxville Police Department reported Jeremy Stout as a missing person.
Investigators believe he may have disappeared from the Greyhound bus stop off of Cherry Street.

Within the last 24 hours, Jeremy’s parents Lisa and Jeff drove down from Kingsport to contribute to the search efforts. They hung missing persons posters on Cherry Street and Magnolia Avenue to raise awareness for their missing son. The couple also offered a $3,000 reward for anyone who is able to bring their son home.

Jeremy has not contacted his parents since Saturday, May 7 at 5:37 pm. The Saturday before Mother’s day. That’s when his parents knew something happened to him.

“He always let everybody know he loved his mama,” Lisa said.

Just before midnight on May 7, 2022 he told his mom he was taking a bus from Cherry Street in Knoxville to their home in Kingsport, TN. His electronic ticket was used, but it is unknown if he ever got on the bus and his family have not heard from him since the call on the 7th saying he was coming home.

Hmm I don't understand when they say his bus ticket was used but it is unknown if he ever got on the bus - surely there are plenty of security cams both at the depot and onboard the bus to be able to verify it was actually Jeremy using his ticket?

Investigators said they did not find any evidence of him getting off the bus in Greenville nor Johnson City and could not confirm with Greyhound if he got on the bus at all. Officials believed Stout was still in the Knoxville area.

“There is concern that he may have experienced a medical emergency and unable to ask for help,” officials said. “He is known to always carry the blue bag in the attached pictures.”

Investigators also said that the current investigation doesn’t reveal if he ever got on the bus or made it to the Tri-cities area. On June 28, East Valley Crime Stoppers received a tip claiming that Stout was near I-40 and Cherry Street.

KPD, the Special Crime Unit investigators, Search and Rescue Team, Public Safety Recruits and other resources searched in “several wooded and marshy areas” around I-40 and Cherry Street. The search team also looked around First Creek in the Magnolia Avenue and Jessamine Street area.

“Those searches revealed no sign of Stout or evidence related to the case,” according to KPD. “Investigators fear the worst and have not ruled out the possibility that foul play was involved in Stout’s disappearance. Investigators are continuing to pursue any and all active leads on the case.”
