Maybe she tried to call 911 prior to calling DW, realized she couldn’t, so called DW, hence his phone call to 911. Once she hung up, Grandma offered her phone, and now we have two 911 calls.

But again, I don't understand how she could reach DW in Jonesborough on her phone, but not be able to reach 911 on her phone.

Maybe there's some kind of tech thing I'm missing.

It's something to do with the limited phone reception out there and the type of phone you have ..... this has also been verified on TIR videos as being correct..... Hope that helps.

I think it depends on your server. Every server and person chooses their server for their phone.

If Grandma had AT&T like I have read she had maybe her server's service was stronger up there.

I think Service is spotty up there. Some servers cover some areas better than others. MOO

I've asked about this same thing. The only thing I can come up with is that she "called" DW via a FB messenger or SnapChat call mechanism (some sort of application that uses the internet to relay voice/video). That would could allow her to make that call over their wifi/internet service on a device that didn't even have a cell sim card or have any sort of cell service. Also, I'm guessing perhaps those types of "calls" can't be made to 911 (because 911 wouldn't maintain accounts on FB or SnapChat that they would need to monitor). ...so she was then forced to find a true cell phone that could make a "normal" call. At least that's the only way I can explain her story. Not saying that's what the case really was here, but it's the only thing that fits in my mind.

I think Grandmother was there because she gives JR a ride to another state. Even so that leaves seven children needing comfortable sleeping arrangements.

Why would CW lie about having to use her moms phone to call 911?

So, do emergency calls work without a signal? Yes, you can make emergency phone calls without a network signal. When your phone loses signal from your provider’s network, it automatically connects to the strongest network that it can find in order to allow for emergency calls to go through. However, since it is not your network, you cannot make other calls.

So, this information is not correct ? Or am I simply not reading it correctly ?

Well, that was interesting. I do stand corrected though, because according to Candus, Grandma drove Jose to NC (not NY) to "some chick's house". All I can say is...sounds like Grandma is a good sport.

<modnsip> I never said CW lied. I simply asked if there was a reason I wasn't understanding as to why she couldn't call 911 from her own phone.

I don’t think anyone is saying she is lying. I think people are trying to figure out why she couldn’t use her own phone to do so. Deactivated phones still call 911. Prepaid phones out of minutes still call 911. The question is simply if she could call DW from her phone, how could she not use it to call 911? Do you have an idea or knowledge of tech stuff to explain why her phone could call DW but not 911? Serious question, because I also find it confusing.

The more I listen to Candus' statements, the more my eyes glaze over and my head fogs up.

Maybe she called him over Facebook messenger or something where you can use WiFi? They seem to use apps regularly with the TikToks, etc.
