    Nice encapsulation there.
(I'm hopeless for names, no matter how well I know a case I'll invariably have to recheck the name of the victim a million times. I just cannot do it. Summer is easy for me tho', partly, I think because the case is so deeply shocking)

She didn't appear to be sure of that in the recent interview with Chris .
I was thinking the kids might have opened it while she was out shopping.
I can understand her not being sure in those first frantic moments.

IMO It’s probably correct, but why would CW know that? I didn’t. Unless most people tried calling 911 before from a location other calls failed, they would expect the 911 call to fail in the same way. Thanks for the article @Mountain_Kat, I’m glad run to know better now!

For most areas, a phone that gets cell tower service call 911, HOWEVER, if in an area like a valley (or holler) with mountains on both side then the phone cannot make a 911 call because it cannot connect to a cell tower.
GPS is different, cell phones receive info from the global position satellite. same geographic issues apply with GPS. If the mountains are blocking this signal then the phone isn't receiving the info from the satellite and is not tracking movements or mapping locations.
Some these area are notorious for not even being able to get satellite TV or internet.
Hawkins county needs to put in new towers and signal repeaters (the old fashioned kind) to get communications in these areas, this would be the fastest and cheapest route. this has been a debate in the county for several years and seems everyone wants a modern functioning system but it's not been funded yet!

Funny you should ask that because I've just been going over that part in the interview. CW said she was unsure.

My thoughts are that the boys may have alerted the neighbors, asked if they'd seen Summer. Possible that CB was heard screaming Summers' name by neighbors. Did CB see a neighbor outside on her drive up holler and ask if they had seen Summer, quite possible. CB could have been blowing the horn on the truck for attention, or even screaming out truck window.
These are all just my thoughts on this situation and possible things that could have happened.

Thanks for doing all that again Amy!
I too live in a blackspot, no mobile reception, the slowest most intermittent internet service in the world and a mainline telephone with a modem that is subject to lightning strikes!
I would maybe need to walk up to half a mile or sometimes more to get a mobile signal, if then.
Do you believe that CW , as a resident would have known that she would have been unable to make a 911 call from her cell phone without having needed to actually try by dialling it?
Residents in my area would know that.

CB did say in one of her interviews that she notified a neighbor -- I think it was in one of the CM interviews, but it might have been in one of the local newspaper interviews (which I can no longer access.) She said that she drove out in her mom's truck, stopped at a neighbors and asked if they would help her look, then drove down to the church, then to the holler. I'll look for the link.

    Rogersville Review Interview

before the cops even came out i went
    06:02
    down and told my neighbors
    06:03

    06:06
just in case she did wander off but i
    06:08
    knew
    06:08
in the back of my mind she's never
    06:10
    wandered off
    06:11
she never went nowhere without me she'll
    06:14
ask me to do something before she even
    06:16
    goes and does it
    06:17
and she's scared to go in the woods by
    06:19
herself because we've told her time and
    06:21
    time

Agree. Yelling and running around at the Wells place then the calls go out from the closest neighbors who hear Summer's missing.

It sounds to me as if she walked to a neighbor's, asked for help, came back up and sent the boys looking, then got into Grandma's truck to go look.

ETA : Which would make sense that the dispatch call said, " Mom went for a walk". Except CW assures us, she doesn't walk or run anywhere.

I do IT support. It always amazes me how many people are unwilling to try something if they don’t know it works, instead of trying it to see if it does work. MOO

More recently in CM interview, CB said she was unsure about if door was locked or not. As @Allabouttrial just posted as well.

That does seem to mean they question CBW and CHs statements.
But they were not on any abduction scenario for a long time.
Wandering or cover up were the obvious first investigative directions.

Yes. But doubt she walked. Too slow.
Driveway is a big rutted hill.
    Took her Mom's truck.

Maybe, Moe. I honestly have a difficult time understanding her thought flow 95% of the time. Same with H.
