I tried to see if I could find any stats but the gov't sites are all shut down atm. This article is old (2003) but it talks about this phenomenon after a convicted pedo was killed in jail.

Although there are no stats in the article, it sounds pretty clear that pedos are at risk in jail if their crime is known and they often have protective custody to thank for their survival (in this case, the pedo convict was killed by another inmate in protective custody).

A career criminal (drugs mostly), Carl Williams, was killed in prison here in Australia not so long ago. He was in solitary confinement, housed in a unit with two other inmates with whom he had supervised contact. He was killed with a prison officer standing 10 metres away. It was all caught on cctv.

Hmmm...It almost sounds like child rapists are at more risk than child murderers, even ones who also raped their victim.

Yeah. Ignore it and it will go away. I have seen it also. Maybe some people need to micromanage more. I hate the term micromanage....but...in certain situations.....it needs to happen. My oldest girl....now in college....turned out great....I asked her...how did you turn out this good....was it me?
What was it? She said, just as much you as me. This being said. Being a parent is a hard job. Guiding your children is not as easy at it anyone believes. Being a single dad with 2 girls is hard to resolve. People ask...how do you do it? How do you answer that question. You just do.

Hate the term to but that was me as a single mom of 2 sons....Yep, you just do it (through it all, in my case it was through it all, lol and today I dont regret a minute of it! ) because you love them & want the best for them.

Tho dont judge others as people handle things so different..

I know. WTH did he do to her???? Her body was found fairly soon, only about 6 hours after he took her. What was the unknown liquid found on her body? Maybe that is what is still being investigated.

Not to be too gross but there were many used condoms in his room, used paper towels, clothing obviously not his, all may have to be tested. If just one used condom has another persons DNA, a defense would use that against them in court for not testing it or investigating it. etc...

Yeah, I really don't think child murderers are killed in prison very often. For one thing, I would think there would be at least local interest if it were to happen. It would be hard to keep it out of the media, especially in the high-profile cases. Now, it wouldn't surprise me if many child killers/rapists have a hard time in prison, are assaulted or attacked, and it's just not reported on, but I don't think they are being killed as often as people might think.
