Police said a person being sought for the disappearance and deaths of two Baytown teenagers was planning to flee when he was taken into custody. Baytown SWAT officers early Monday surrounded an apartment in the 500 block of Massey Tompkins after investigators learned Jose Juan Chavez, 17, was there...

Brandon Flores, 20, was charged as well but remains at large.

Jose Chavez was initially identified as a person of interest in the slayings because police thought he was the last person to see Jarvis Morgan and Alejandro Chavez alive.

I still wonder what the motive was for this trap.. so sad. If I could look any of them in the eye, I'd ask "was it really worth it?"

KHOU 11 News exclusively obtained a picture of 17-year-old Jarvis Morgan, one of the victims, getting a haircut. It was taken inside a Baytown shed on the day both he and 18-year-old Alex Chavez vanished. Police believe they encountered the four suspects in that shed and were abducted and taken to rural Chambers County where they were murdered...

Police arrested the latest suspect, Jose Juan Chavez, on Monday. Valentin Lazo and Richard Gonzalez were apprehended last week. All three men are thought to have stood by and watched while Brandon Flores murdered the teens. "There was some kind of an altercation between them," said Clifford. "We're not sure what stimulated that. It ended absolutely tragically."

Police say all of the men involved knew, and were even friendly, with one another. They believe the crime had nothing to do with drugs or gangs.

A decision to dismiss charges against one of four men charged in the deaths of two Baytown teens has angered the victims' families, who are questioning not only grand jurors who chose not to indict the man but also the work of the Baytown police department.

The Baytown police investigator overseeing the case said he was also disappointed by the Chambers County grand jury's decision and continues to believe that 21-year-old Richard Gonzalez should have been indicted in the deaths of Jarvis Morgan, 17, and Alejandro Chavez, 18...

The cases against Lazo and Chavez have not yet made their way to the grand jury, Freed said. An arrest warrant for Flores has been issued. Investigators believe he fled to Mexico after the deaths and are trying to have him arrested.

Suspect arrested in murder of two Baytown teens

Authorities arrested and charged Jose Chavez and Valentin Lazo with capital murder. But a third suspect, Brandon Flores, fled to Mexico where he had remained on the run.

But now we’ve learned police in Mexico arrested him for local crimes last December, then let him go only to re-arrest him about a month ago.

And we’re told authorities in Chambers County have been fighting with Mexican authorities to bring him back to Texas. It hasn’t worked yet.

“They need to hand him over without any questions asked,” Castillo said. “They need to hand him over so they can come here and be prosecuted.”

OT but lately, I can rarely open any links, and on mobile, the screen is jumpy and I have trouble posting. :/

what was the motive anyways?

All LE has said is that it was not related to drugs or money. A girl? Or a 'diss?' Showing some lack of respect in front of others? Certainly nothing worth two young lives.

Details emerge about Baytown teens' mysterious double slaying - June 18th

http://www.houstonchronicle.com/neighborhood/bayarea/crime-courts/article/Details-emerge-about-Baytown-teens-mysterious-8311222.php

Two Baytown teenagers whose bodies were discovered in a Chambers County bayou last year were allegedly forced into the trunk of their own car at gunpoint by a man they considered a friend.

The detail is one of many previously undisclosed to the public about the slaying of Jarvis Lamont Morgan Jr., 17, and Alejandro Castillo Chavez, 18, contained in documents filed by the Baytown police to secure arrest warrants for three men accused in the slayings.

Flores often cut the teenagers' hair. Inside with Flores were Richard Gonzalez, 22, Valentin Lazo, 30, and Juan Chavez, 19, no relation to victim Alejandro Chavez.

Gonzalez told police that Flores had just finished cutting his hair when Morgan and Chavez arrived through the back door. The teenagers and Flores went into another part of the house and he heard "loud noises," Gonzalez told investigators. He then saw Flores and Juan Chavez escorting Morgan and Alejandro Chavez out of the house at gunpoint.

What caused the alleged falling-out between Flores and the two teenagers is unclear. Police have refused to divulge a motive, and public documents give no indication of what it might be.

The teenagers were forced into the trunk of their own car, Gonzalez told police. Juan Chavez got into the driver's seat and Flores the rear passenger seat. Gonzalez told investigators that he got into the car with them.

Flores asked Lazo what to do, Gonzalez told police, and Lazo answered, "Take them down there," pointing to the rear of the property.

Court records show Gonzalez and Lazo told investigators that Flores drove the car to the rear of the property, out of their sight. They both heard two gunshots. Gonzalez told police that Flores shot both teenagers in the head, according to court documents.

Man accused of murdering 2 Baytown teens makes first court appearance

http://abc13.com/suspect-in-murder-of-baytown-teens-makes-court-appearance/3126700/

Dressed in jailhouse orange and not uttering a word, Brandon Flores made a brief first appearance inside a Chambers County courthouse Thursday morning.

The victims' families audibly gasped in court when Flores pled not guilty, a standard practice during initial court appearances.

"It's tough for any family to go through a murder, the murder of a child, and when you have someone that's fled, and gone for three years, it's a long time coming," said Cheryl Lieck, Chambers County district attorney.
