Missing without a trace: Local man’s disappearance haunts family
GATESVILLE, Texas (KWTX) What happened to Cole Middleton? That question has been haunting his family, friends and police for nearly three years.

At 20 years old, Middleton’s friends say he was a lot of fun to be around, most of the time.
He was usually laughing and joking and telling stories.
He also had a dark side that included drug addiction, depression, deceit and even thoughts of suicide.
Middleton disappeared without a trace in the summer of 2015 from a motel where he had been staying.
Local police say they have no idea what happened to him.
"We searched every lead, every piece of information we could find on him. We followed up as much as we can right now. We've exhausted everything we had on him." said Lt, Cody Lee of the Gatesville Police Department.
Middleton had several brushes with the law and had been arrested several times for various crimes.
According to his mother, his history of drug use often lead to erratic behavior, even paranoia.
"He feared for his life. He said he had done something bad to some bad people and they were out to get him,” she said.

Was it murder? Suicide? Or did Cole Middleton simply want to disappear?
Gatesville police believe someone knows the answer and they hope someone will come forward.
The family has created a Facebook page in the hopes of gathering information.
They've also offered a $500 reward for proof that he's still alive.
