I couldn't find this case listed. If it's a duplicate, please remove.

http://kxan.com/2017/08/04/newly-retrieved-dna-could-give-detectives-break-in-1979-cold-case-murder/

"Detectives with the Austin Police Department’s homicide cold case unit hope to use DNA evidence to help solve a murder that happened more than 38 years ago."

"Robert found his wife’s body still in their bed when he came home from work the evening of Jan. 22. Investigators found evidence she’d been sexually assaulted and strangled."

Bumping this up - wondering what's going on??

I found him on a Texas site, but these aren't the charges on that page.

Anyone have better luck then me? I believe he's in Travis County.

TIA!

I checked this site: Travis County Jail Inmate Search
It lists only: Charge Authority: NEW WARRANT - CLASS B OR ABOVE
Bond: $750,000.00

He's scheduled in the 147th, so there might be more info there.

Thanks MicheleT but unfortunately, I can't get into either one... new EU rules! If you have time could you check? TIA!

Here's what I found: GALVAN, MICHAEL D-1-DC-18-900085 07/10/18 01:30 450TH CAPITAL MURDER IN COMM OF CITED OFFENSES

Here’s a quick rundown: Debra Sue Reiding was an 18-year-old newlywed when her husband discovered her remains in their South Austin home.

Galvan, 64, was a suspect in 1979, but there was not sufficient evidence to charge him then.

Bianca Quilantan‏ @biancaquilan 3h3 hours ago
Galvan and Reiding worked at the Montana Mining Company restaurant that used to be on the corner of Oltorf Street and I-35, a detective said.

Galvan was being held at the Travis County Jail with bail set at $750,000, records show. The defense is asking for the bond to be lowered. The hearing has begun.

Defense called Wendy Radcliffe, who has been Michael Galvan’s girlfriend steadily for the last few years. She provided the defense with a receipt from Galvan’s checking account and a Chase bank statement. They were found in his belongings at her apartment.

Bianca Quilantan‏ @biancaquilan 3h3 hours ago
The statement was from about a year ago, the prosecution says.

Bianca Quilantan‏ @biancaquilan 3h3 hours ago
Radcliffe also provided the defense with his Texas barber license and business license. Defense says Radcliffe was Galvan’s client.

Radcliffe has spoken with Galvan’s landlord after Galvan was arrested. She says he has lived in South Austin for the past decade and in the past 10 months Galvan has lived with her.

Bianca Quilantan‏ @biancaquilan 3h3 hours ago
Radcliffe met Galvan in the early ‘90s. She says he has always lived in Austin, and is unaware of any other properties he may have, stocks, or inheritances. Radcliffe said he made about $1200 per month that went to his living expenses.

Bianca Quilantan‏ @biancaquilan 3h3 hours ago
Radcliffe said Galvan was aware that he was a suspect in the cold case in August.

Bianca Quilantan‏ @biancaquilan 3h3 hours ago
All of his family and community ties are in Austin, Radcliffe said. She says if Galvan was released on bond, he would stay with her.

Bianca Quilantan‏ @biancaquilan 3h3 hours ago
August, when Galvan and Radcliffe moved in together, was the first time Radcliffe heard that Galvan was a suspect in the murder case. She had known him for about 15 years.

Bianca Quilantan‏ @biancaquilan 3h3 hours ago
Prosecutors said that Galvan called Radcliffe and said he was surprised he hadn’t been arrested by the police. Radcliffe said that he just said he was expecting to be arrested. After his DNA was taken, they moved in together.

Bianca Quilantan‏ @biancaquilan 3h3 hours ago
Galvan was living rent-free at his apartment in South Austin before he moved in with Radcliffe, prosecution says.

Bianca Quilantan‏ @biancaquilan 3h3 hours ago
His barbershop is closed and Galvan isn’t making any money, she put the sign up, Radcliffe says.

Prosecution has called Detective Jeff Gabler as a witnesss. He has worked in the cold case unit for about five years and has worked on the Reiding cold case since April 2013.

Bianca Quilantan‏ @biancaquilan 3h3 hours ago
Gabler said Galvan has been arrested previously for other crimes. He has been convicted of several, he said.

Bianca Quilantan‏ @biancaquilan 3h3 hours ago
After he took the DNA evidence, Gabler said Galvan moved. Between August 2017 and the indictment, Gabler said he did not know where he was living. A unit had to track him down at Radcliffe’s apartment.

Bianca Quilantan‏ @biancaquilan 3h3 hours ago
Peeping Tom incident was cleared because later in court they established it was not Galvan, defense says.

Judge Brad Urrutia says the amount for the bond is reasonable given the nature of the charges (Capital Murder) and the potential sentence. (Death Penalty) The motion to reduce the bond has been denied.

Brittany Glas‏ @BrittanyGlasTV 3h3 hours ago

Judge Brad Urrutia: The amount of the bond ($750,000) is 'reasonable' given that this is a case of capital murder, in the case of Michael Anthony Galvan. @KXAN_News

Bianca Quilantan‏ @biancaquilan 3h3 hours ago
A lot of the evidence has not yet been made available to everyone, the judge says. Will set a time for a discovery. The defense will be able to renew the motion to reduce bond in the future.
