In the video where it shows him in distress (JMO) there are two people following him - wondering if those are the friends he was with? Why weren't they assisting him?
I watched the video several times, in my opinion, the two people aren't following him. I don't think it could be his friends, reportedly, they had left in the missing man's car. When he first leaves (escorted out?) the bar, in my opinion, he starts the jogging and arm movement. Maybe he was refused service.

According to the Houston Police Department, Delano Burkes, just after 12:30 a.m. on Nov. 13, leaving McIntyre's Bar on West 20th Street, where several bars are located.

As of Friday, Burkes has not been seen or heard from as the nonprofit organization Texas EquuSearch sent a small team to a wooded area near White Oak Bay Bike Path along East TC Jester, which is less than a mile away from where he was last seen.

Noting:
  • TXEQ said Burkes was at Moonshine Deck, which is a neighboring bar to McIntyre's.
  • He walked westbound before disappearing.
  • Burkes has his phone with him but calls have gone straight to voicemail.
  • Burkes' family is in possession of surveillance camera footage from a storage facility and bar that appears to show him in some distress and running away that night.

More on his phone...

"They had texted Delano," said Delano’s brother Pierre Burkes. "Upon not getting a text back, [Delano’s 2 friends] went inside Moonshine where they thought he was. They didn’t see him. So, they made their way back to the car, circled the block, and left."

The two friends left with Delano’s vehicle. Loved ones believe the 26-year-old didn’t have an ID with him and his cellphone was low on battery.

Family and friends said the bars cameras captured Delano Burkes, 26, leaving the bar at about 1:13 a.m.

“We have video of him coming out the back of the bar. They said he was drunk, so they escorted him out of the back of the bar,” said Karen Jeffley, Burkes mom.

According to family members, Delano went out Saturday night with friends. One of those friends, they said, was driving Delano’s car when they pulled over in a restaurant parking lot near Bevis and West 19th and 20th Streets in the Heights.

That’s when they said Delano went next door to McIntyre’s to use the bathroom.

After seeing his criminal record I could deduce that he is possibly an angry drunk and/or becomes combative with authorities and others when he’s intoxicated. It appears that he refused to cooperate with the police after being pulled over for DUI. He refuses to provide his identification and possibly gave a false name.
Add the domestic violence against a family member charge and I really don’t suspect the friends at all. It seems he was struggling with alcohol and he likely didn’t even have a drivers license. It was likely prearranged that someone else (sober) would drive. When he disappeared his friends probably assumed he got into some predictable situation that he might tend to find himself in. Or they may have expected him to show the next morning. We have no history here but if he’s done anything like this before, his friends really couldn’t have had any idea this time would be different. MOO!!

Oh man.

I hope this case is not like many others where a young man disappears after a night of drinking and partying and is eventually found in nearby water.

I don’t find the running particularly surprising. Delano had some previous run-ins with LE (looks like relatively minor offenses, likely connected with substance use IMO). If he were asked to leave the bar, due to intoxication or an altercation, it would not surprise me if Delano was afraid of having LE called. I’d speculate he wanted to get away from that place quickly, as to avoid any legal trouble - a deferred sentence might be at risk?

I’d presume tragic accident, with alcohol/drugs as a contributing factor.

In any case, I hope he is located quickly. And I hope I’m wrong and he is found safe and well!

Have people checked sheds, dumpsters, empty premises, tucked deep in a park setting somewhere to curl up, sleep it off, or be sick and to hide? speculation, imo.
Well if he’s holed up somewhere sleeping it off, I would hope he would have woken up by now but it’s possible that he’s somewhere warm and safe and just laying low. That is my hope although not my expectation at this point. MOO

is the weather there cold enough for him to have died of exposure in some woods?
Definitely, it's been like 45ºF here for a week/week and a half. For us Gulf Coast people that's like fargo hat and parka kind of weather. Unless you're a dude, then it's a hoodie & shorts. But I really don't see him surviving very long out of doors with the temps we have without some provisions.

''Surveillance video obtained by the family from nearby businesses shows Burkes leaving McIntyre’s and then running. Burkes can be seen running alone and stumbling, almost with a limp.''

"The way he was fumbling around almost looked like he was drugged or something," said Jeffley. "Also, people keep bringing up, it looks like his side was hurting."

MOO just wondering if he could he have been stabbed? Edited to add - after reading my post I'm answering my own musings, there should be blood on the ground. Going back to wondering what happened to him.

Delicately put, maybe he curled up in such a place and stayed there, speculation.

[...]

Karen Jeffley, Burkes' mother, told ABC13 she would not stop until she finds her son. In a new development, Jeffley said she has been receiving calls and was told that Burkes was possibly seen in downtown Houston.

[...]

Newly retrieved video shows Burkes crossing the street shortly after leaving McIntyre's Bar near West 19th Street, seemingly in distress.

Jeffley has seen a few videos of him from that night. "Scary," she said. "Definitely wasn't in his right mind."

[...]

He left his car behind that night, and now, the family is trying to find his cell phone. "We're spending a lot of time trying to get approval to get that ping," she said. "They don't want to ping it unless it's a crime or a life or death situation. They don't consider it that."

Texas EquuSearch is continuing to look for Burkes.

KHOU REPORT
Has video of him leaving, according to this report he went into the restaurant to use the bathroom and was asked to leave.
He for sure seemed to be drunk or on something. It’s unfortunate that they don’t want to ping his phone. Obviously something is wrong. It’s so sad because it is precious time wasted. Hopefully they can get that ping and maybe more footage since it seems to be a pretty populated area. I wonder why his friends took so long to tell someone that he never returned. I wonder if this was common for him.

I'm in this area and I used to work at a shop basically behind McIntyre's on 19th. The video they say is him leaving McIntyre's, I don't remember those cable reels being there. McIntyre's is a building with picnic tables out front, but maybe that is the back area? The crime in this area is getting insane.

As a note about circumstances and how this could happen. As a youth partying, we decided to take my friend's parents' SUV loaded up with all of us to a concert and I was designated driver. My friend who's parents' owned the vehicle, got so drunk at the concert that he was picked up and taken to detox for the night. We looked all over for him and after awhile just gave up and drove his parents' car back to his house, left it there, and we all went home thinking nothing of it. He surfaced the next day, hungover, but alive. So, weird things do happen with cars and drinking that isn't necessarily nefarious, just stupid. My friend thanked me for getting his parents' SUV back home safely.

Yeah I don't think his friends were in the wrong or had anything to do with his disappearance. But he was married, you'd think some communication would have happened a little earlier than it did. Like hey I have his car but we couldn't find him. But they could have all been intoxicated as well, so maybe they were not in the clear thinking either.

This is a good suggestion. He's running like he's injured or drugged imho.

I know this is probably unlikely, but I've seen people run like that when they were laughing hard as well. I could also see it being an expression of frustration to run like that. Like he couldn't find his friends or way back to his friends. Maybe because they escorted him out the back he got confused and that is also why his friends didn't see him.

All MOO

I live about 1-2 miles from these bars - particularly interested in this.

The video doesn't scream distress to me - looks like a goofy inebriated guy. He does look pretty out of sorts though, i'd venture to guess he ingested something other than alcohol (either knowingly or unknowingly, impossible to say).

A lot of people blaming the friends - but i think people need to realize 24 hours isn't THAT long (especially when you consider his friends probablly left around 2 and who knows, they could have all slept until noon the next day). Think about it - this guy is married, went out with the boys and without his friends' knowledge, leaves. I know it sounds bad, but if his buddies thought he may have went home with a woman, they're DEFINITELY not trying to out him to his wife, and were probably waiting until they heard from him the next day. These are adults after all, we're not talking about 20 year old college kids. I imagine once it was around mid-afternoon of the next day, is when things started to set in that something may have went wrong.

MOO - hoping for the best here. Think i saw on the news he was potentially spotted downtown yesterday so at this point, a mental break of some sort where he has gone off the grid seems like best case scenario.
