Found Deceased TX - Delano Burkes, 26, missing after night out with friends, went to use the bathroom, seen running, Houston, 13 Nov 2022

I feel so bad for the family. They are on the new here everyday asking for help finding him. Its so scary. He was downtown in the Heights. One video showing him walking strangely and then kind of running. Should be more video considering all the businesses he had to pass. Almost like he just vanished. moo

A few blocks away there is some sort of waterway along the White Oak Bayou Trailway. A river or drainage of some sort? Does any of the locals know if there is water in that waterway these days?
I feel bad for the family also. To not know where there son is ?? I cannot imagine

I am afraid the waters nearby are where they will find him.

There are so many young males that go missing after leaving a bar that end up in the water and LE always say "accidental death"

I disagree with LE, but that's another story.

Hoping for good news on this one. I was similar to him in my younger years. Many alcohol related problems. I finally got clean and am pretty lucky to be unscathed from it all. One time I "woke up" in mid stride down a sidewalk in an unfamiliar part of town. No clue how I got there or how long I'd been walking. I had been out drinking the night before. I had bruises on my chest and my cell phone and wallet were missing. I have no memory of any of it. Stories like this hit kind of close to home.

He was escorted from a premises where he just wanted to use the bathroom.
I'm thinking his hop skip and jump could indicate he really really wanted to use it but was distracting himself until he found an appropriate place out of public view?

Did he subsequently head into a dark place in an effort to do it discreetly and ran into trouble while there?

Something smells fishy for sure. I would like to see the footage from when he entered McIntyre's, and the footage while he was there. I think the true story is that they were all drinking at McIntyre's, he got drugged and got kicked out. His friends either noticed he was gone or decided to leave too at the same time and they couldn't find him since he got escorted out of the back of the building (I've been to McIntyre's multiple times and never even knew there was an exit on that side). The parking lot is on the 20th street side and everyone uses the 20th street side as the entrance and exit. This is similar to the first story I heard about this. The bathroom tale showed up 1-2 days later with some confusion about McIntyre's and Moonshine Deck. Just my two cents.

I talked to people at Thanksgiving today that live in the area and they hadn't heard about this case. Someone will hopefully know something when they realize they saw him.

In the video in the above - does it look like he got into that truck at 1:23? I can't tell if its just his head passing by the truck window or a reflection given the relatively poor quality video (although still pretty good quality for security footage) - but it looks like the door to that silver pickup truck opens? Am I seeing things?

Edit: Unless the family knows something we don't (entirely possible) i don't love their continued use of the word "distressed" - he's definitely not sprinting in the videos, or obviously running away from anything. And if someone or something was chasing him, wouldn't it have also been picked up in these videos?

MOO - But the more I think, hear, and see of these videos - the more i think he ingested something either knowingly or unknowingly. He looks lost more than distressed or scared.

Edit 2: Will be off work before it gets dark today so planning to walk my side of the bayou as the water should be receding by later this afternoon.
It looks like he stops and opens it! I didn't really notice it before. I wonder if his family has seen the longer version or has anyone seen a longer version?

It's great that you made it out of that and can now share your experience with others.

It actually DOES happen. I wrote a paper on this and it happens more often in the midwest and California than other places.
Truth! In my younger years before weed was legal, I encountered laced weed a couple of times! It’s one of the big reasons I don’t smoke anymore, even though I know it’s legal and regulated now. I’m in the Midwest - Detroit to be specific.

Anyways, I’m thinking of Delanos family today on thanksgiving. I was hoping he’d be reunited with them by now. I really hope there’s still a chance he’s out there, and will be ok…

This is scary. I don't feel right about this after watching the video. Has his family said much about what they think of it? Him being a big, strong man doesn't eliminate the possibility of him being a victim of violent crime. Especially if he was intoxicated/ drugged.

Also, is there any basis for the speculation about marijuana use? Of course it's possible that he uses marijuana and possible he accidentally got some laced pot, but, is there any indication/ known history of Delano using drugs?

No known history that's public information. Only the suggestion from his mother that he was drugged that night and our own speculation about what that could have been.
suppose his walk/run was in an effort to restrain himself because he needed bathroom, where is he likely to have to run to that is closest to the back entrance?
I ask because you are familiar with the area?
Is there a known dangerous alleyway or anything similar in the area?

Well he's got a little bit of a record and is on deferred adjudication as of 16 days ago but I don't think that anything in his record would lead to voluntary disappearance. And if he was gonna disappear voluntarily I don't think he would be running around in the silly way he was. Based on the video and his record, I think he was high or drunk and either fell into the bayou (most likely) or hurt himself in the woods surrounding the bayou. The running/stumbling just looks like someone in an altered and well.. happy state of mind to me. Unfortunately it's been crazy cold here for the last week, so the odds of survival if he's injured aren't good at all.

I suspect his friends just got tired of trying to corral him and left, probably figuring he met someone and left with them. I'll be praying for the mom and wife. I myself partied a little too hard when I was his age and was just plain lucky that I didn't get myself into a life-endangering situation.

It would appear that alcohol is not his friend.

Amateur opinion and speculation

This area is like businesses and bars within the neighborhood, nothing unusually dangerous. Also, since it is Houston, there is more than enough vegetation around since it's literally a swamp to duck behind and take a piss in that area especially at night. I've done it many times walking from bar to bar. Just my opinion.

With his current charge, maybe he was being extra careful not wanting to risk a charge for indecent exposure?
