I wonder if the ‘photo of a dismembered woman’ is his trophy photo, or something he found on one of the more disgusting parts of the Internet.

And if it’s a photo he took—is it of her, or someone else who’s disappeared? Other similar disappearances, recently, I believe?

On the other hand, I would guess that his lawyer is going to claim that his withdrawing the $500 shows that he intended in good faith to pay her, so it can’t be first degree murder. When this comes to a trial, I’d hope that the jury refuses to follow that line of reasoning.

This is worse than I thought.
Great detective work though.
Will be curious to see why he was released after his arrest. It doesn’t mention bail / bond, which has been an issue recently in Harris County. So, I’m assuming they weren’t able to hold him for some reason?

So, he called an Uber for her but sent her to apt #1 first??? Also, I was afraid that she was actually working - sex work and/or escorting- when all of the stories weren’t lining up. Sounds like that was the case. This suspect agreed to pay her $500 to meet up.

Wonder when they noticed their suspect was on the run???

Johnson was reported missing on April 16. Her father believed she disappeared after interviewing for a jobat an adult entertainment club on Houston's northwest side.

But police said an investigation revealed Johnson left a hotel in Houston's Medical Center in the early morning hours of April 16. According to the documents, Nwobodo ordered the Uber ride for Johnson after she posted an advertisement on an escort website. Nwobodo then picked Johnson up at an apartment complex in the 3200 block of Windchase Boulevard, which is the address of an apartment from which he recently moved.

Documents say Nwobodo received treatment on his right hand at a local clinic on the morning of April 16, claiming he cut himself while opening boxes.

Nwobodo is seen on surveillance footage with a bandage wrap on his right hand while at Walmart purchasing trash bags, a flashlight and towels on April 16 and 17, according to the documents. He also purchased a mechanical saw from Walmart and Home Depot.

On May 13, Nwobodo was taken into custody during a traffic stop. Nwobodo was not charged after the traffic stop. He was released, but a cell phone in his front pocket was seized.

Documents say the cell phone contained a photograph of a dismembered female in addition to three photos of deceased individuals. The individuals in the photos were not identified and no metadata was associated with them.

This genuinely confuses me. He was taken into custody and then released, but they seized his phone? I'm assuming he was taken into custody because of an outstanding warrant of some kind. But on what grounds could they seize his cell phone?

Maybe they already had a search warrant for his phone based off records from her phone? Idk this case is very confusing. I’m so sad for this horrible ending. May she rip.

Disregarding all the evidence, the man made sure she was dropped off at a different location. He probably assumed the police wouldn’t be able to figure out he previously lived in that complex. I mean, he googled how to get away with murder & could police search her phone, so obviously he isn’t very bright. You don’t have someone dropped off somewhere to then go pick them up and bring them back to your place without nefarious reasons. Why not just have the Uber drop her at your place? That seems like so much extra work. IMO

I believe any decent prosecutor could get a conviction on first degree murder based on that.

They clear up a lot of misinformation from the media as well as provide answers to the questions we’ve all had since the beginning. the exact same thing happened to sara goodwin. down to the dismemberment. and i MIGHT be wrong but wasnt that the same case with the other young woman late last year in houston?

- scroll down to defendant
- enter last name and hit search bar at bottom of page
- there should be 2 cases for him that come up first with June charging date
- select either of those cases by clicking the link with his name (both have the same documents)
- scroll down to “images” (on page with case information)
- select complaint document from image option. This should open the PDF file for you to view. If not, add image to “cart” option on same page. Then go to cart and open.

Yes it did! It is almost identical. So close that I wouldn’t be surprised to find out this suspect looked up that case before.
