The remains were found Thursday morning at 11815 Ferndell Street near Furay Road.

Harris County Sheriff's Office investigators were canvasing the scene to figure out what happened.

Human bones discovered in northeast Houston

An investigation is underway in the discovery of human bones in northeast Harris County.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences confirmed the remains found are indeed human.

The remains were discovered Thursday afternoon at the 11800 block of Fendell Street at Furay Road.

During an interview, Gonzalez said a homeowner found what appeared to be a human skull after their dog brought it back home.

Investigators are combing the area and said they located other pieces, Gonzalez said. Deputies are considering the case a homicide until proven otherwise.

Gonzalez said there were some burned spots near where the remains were found, but said it hadn't been determined if the burned areas were related to the human bones.

Deputies who patrol the area described it as desolate and dark at night, Gonzalez said. Other debris at the scene, including a couch, indicated that it is also considered a dumping ground, he said.

Was just coming to post this. Hopefully they can figure out quickly who this is and solve one of the many missing person cases in Houston.

I’m sort of hoping it’s Donna Cloud, would be nice to get some closure in her case, or Chase Lackey, another Northeast Houston area missing.

I just posted to Chase's thread: TX - TX - Chase Lackey, 25, Houston, 2 July 2017

I don't know where Chase's apartment was (first articles in his thread are vague) but it seems he lived around 10-12 miles from where these remains were found.

I'm on my way to take a look at Donna's last know location next.

Donna's thread: TX - TX - Donna Cloud, 19, Kingwood, 25 Oct 2016

I can't figure out where exactly she was last seen (some posts say Kingwood and others say Splendora) but this seems to be the right area of Houston to possibly be Donna. Early info said she went to a Texas Roadhouse in Kingswood but they never found evidence she was actually there. That restaurant is about 16 miles from these remains: Google Maps

So many are missing in Houston though :( I hope they ID these remains quickly.

I know the apartments in the area he went missing from. Mapping from an address close to them (JC Penny is close to the various apartments give or take a few blocks). I have 11 miles and 18 minute drive on the beltway. As the crow flies he’s closer.

The missing paralegal too, I bet she’s even closer Maria something...

ETA
Maria Jimenez Rodriguez. Last seen 6900 block Texarkana. 9.3 miles almost direct line. Her car was found closer along the line I think.

Her car was found at Wayside and Wallisville, you would use Wayside to get to this location from where she was last seen using the most direct route.

Deputies discovered a spot in a field across the street where they found two spots where something appeared a body was dumped.

Investigators and EquSearch volunteers combed the area and said they located other pieces, [Harris County Sheriff Ed] Gonzalez said.

‘We found some patches, again, of some burned foliage that was there. We just now found some pieces of clothing now. We’re cognizant of different missing person cases that have occurred and so that will be part of the investigation to see if it matches up to anyone,’ Gonzalez said.

Investigators spent most of the day collecting evidence at the site. It will be turned over for lab analysis.” (BBM)

Investigators found more bone fragments and "burn spots" in the lot, the sheriff continued.

"Deputies that know the area very well say it's a very desolate, dark area," Gonzalez said. "There's not a lot of lighting out here and, as you can see, it's used as some kind of dumping ground."

The medical examiner confirmed that the skull was human and police are treated the investigation as a possible homicide.

"We don't know if foul play is involved yet," Gonzalez said, adding that the person could have died of natural causes.

This is not the first time I’ve heard of a dog bringing home a skull.

Re: the skull, ME/ Forensic Anthropologists will likely be able to determine the approx age range of the victim based on that squiggly line on the top of the skull—if the line/space is more fused together, than this indicates an older victim. There’s quite a bit they can determine from a skull...

There’s a Forensic Anthropology specialist I was just watching talk last night on TV; it was a rerun of a case about a victim named Tina that was killed and dismembered by her live in boyfriend and father of her baby. Two boys fishing at the lake in Ohio iirc pulled up her skull on their line. Had this never happened she would have continued to be a MP obviously, so it was a huge stroke of luck and fate that her skull got caught on their fishing line.

Anyway, the killer had gone to great lengths to try to hide her identity, including removing her eyes, scraping the flesh off the skull (determined by tool marks, etc), removing the lower jaw and manually pulling out each of her teeth with pliers. He had however missed wisdom teeth under the gum line. So DNA from the tooth pulp was extracted. Also, skull fragments were taken from the thickest portion of the skull, a few holes drilled out. These teeth and skull samples iirc were used for mitochondrial analysis and comparison.

My point is that they can possibly get DNA from the skull and teeth. Of course as we know, Anthropological facial reconstruction via sculpture, computers can also be rendered.

I wonder if Dr. Derrick will receive this UID case. She has worked on “Smurfette”, iirc.

You were correct, Gardener1850.

Luis’ thread:

Found Deceased - TX - Luis Rangel, 22, car found burned out, Houston, 17 May 2019

From an earlier article:

“Luis Rangel was reported missing May 17, and was last seen near Jensen Drive and Tidwell Road late that night. He had called his mother to say he was coming home, but never made it.

"He's a very good kid," said family friend Andrea Reyes. "He comes home every night, he's a hard worker, he graduated. He's the only child this couple has and we're very concerned because, he's not a problematic child or anything like that."”
