Details of Disappearance
Hollie's parents, Harold Dean Clouse Jr. (who was addressed by his middle name, or by the nickname Junior) and Tina Gail Linn Clouse, married in June 1979 and settled in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Hollie was born soon after, and in 1980 the family moved Lewisville, Texas after Dean was offered a cabinetry job. Within a few months, Dean, 21, and Tina, 17, suddenly stopped contacting their respective families.

In the summer of 1980, someone contacted Dean's mother, said they were in California and offered to drive Dean's car to his family in Daytona Beach, Florida in exchange for $1,000. Dean's family accepted the offer and three women wearing religious robes arrived in Daytona Beach with the car.

One of the women, who called herself "Sister Susan", stated that Dean and Tina had joined a religious community where members addressed each other by the titles "Sister and "Brother". This community was possibly related to the Brethren or the Jesus People. Sister Susan said the Clouses were very happy and wanted to cut ties with their families. Because both Dean and Tina had a history of joining religious cult type groups, this story was believed at the time.

In 1981, Dean's mother reported him missing after months passed without any contact from him. In fact, by this point Dean was already dead and so was his wife.

On January 12, 1981, a dog found the decomposed remains of Tina and Dean dumped together in an undeveloped wooded area off Wallisville Road in Harris County, Texas, in the Houston area. Dean had been bound, gagged and beaten to death; Tina had been strangled. Investigators believe they had died that same month.

Although the couple's faces were still recognizable, they were not identified for forty years. In late 2021, genetic genealogists were able to confirm the identifications of both parents. There was no sign of their baby daughter, however.

It's not clear whether Hollie was killed by the same person(s) who murdered her parents, if she was abducted by the murderer(s), or what became of her. Her extended family, however, believes the baby could have been raised in or around a religious community.

There has been no indication of her whereabouts since her parents' bodies were found on January 12, 1981, although the official date of Hollie's disappearance is given as January 6 of that year.
