Found Deceased TX - Jacob Dubois, 22, left to meet friend, never returned, Schertz, 7 Mar 2021 *Arrest - GUILTY*

There's a good podcast that interviews JD's mother and girlfriend which sheds more light on the investigation and the relationship between JD and EB. Not sure if I can link it directly...it's available from multiple sources including YT, Spotify, etc. Maybe a moderator can weigh in.

Considering that it's JD's mom and girlfriend who are basically primary sources, I don't see why it wouldn't be allowed. Thanks for bringing that up! I found the interview. Sounds like Jacob didn't particularly like Ethan but according to the gf Jali, Ethan was "obsessed" with Jacob and would show up at their place daily late at night or early morning demanding to talk to/see Jacob. "He wanted to be around him all the time. It was crazy."

Sounds like Ethan was a disturbed individual and Jacob was just too nice to completely cut him off. "Jacob refuses to give up people. He wants to be there for you no matter what you do. but it got to the point where he couldn't any more bc it was putting his life in danger too..." [this is referencing a former best friend]

Jali said that when arrived home the evening she last saw Jacob, she wanted to talk to him about something, but Jacob said right away "There's something wrong with Ethan and he really wants to see me right now." She also said "Ethan had a habit of manipulating him" and that Ethan had the habit of monopolizing Jacob's time and lying about what they were doing, but she didn't want to force Jacob to stay home, so she just went to her room and lay in the dark. Jacob came to her and promised he would try not to stay out more than 20 minutes, 2 hours at the very maximum. He left around 11:30pm and Jali waited for him but he never came back. She checked for his location at 3am but the phone just said "no location."

She went to bed sleep until 7:30am, stayed awake until 10am, texted Jacob's mom Sylvia that he didn't come home, were worried that Ethan and Jacob had gotten arrested, were calling jails, hospitals. She and Sylvia drove to Ethan's house and saw his car. The front bumper was missing. Inside car they saw all his keys in the car. She banged on Ethan's door, no answer. They drove around to get gas, came back 5 min later, and Ethan's car was gone. Then apparently they called the police and an officer arrived. The officer tried calling Ethan and stated that Ethan said that he and Jacob "Well, Ethan said they got high as *advertiser censored* in the back of the neighborhood or whatever and that he drove off when Jacob was walking home."

I'm about halfway through the interview, but those are the pertinent details thus far.

Details of Disappearance
Dubois left his residence in the 5100 block of Brookline in Schertz, Texas at 11:45 p.m. on March 7, 2021. He told his girlfriend he was going to meet up with a friend, Ethan Carl Beckman. When questioned, Beckman said he parted ways with Dubois at a construction site in the vicinity of Homestead Parkway and Somervell, and that Dubois said he was going to walk home.

He never returned home and has never been heard from again. Beckman has given conflicting accounts about his disappearance.

On March 8, the day after Dubois disappeared, Beckman made several trips to Walmart to purchase "items that could possibly be used in an attempt to dispose of or destroy a body," including bleach and lighter fluid.

In the early hours of March 9, Beckman's car, a gray 2019 Volkswagen Jetta GTI, broke down in the vicinity of U.S. 281 and Borgfeld Drive. This was the same vehicle he'd been driving at the time of his meeting with Dubois. A police officer who stopped to offer assistance noted seeing lighter fluid and paper towels inside Beckman's car, and also that Beckman's clothes were stained with bleach.

On March 11, the police seized Beckman's vehicle and prcessed it for evidence in Dubois's case. It appeared as if someone had cleaned the inside of it very recently; the floorboard was still wet. They found blood on and around the passenger seat, and a spent bullet in the passenger seat pillar. Investigators subsequently learned that Beckman had been making arrangements to sell the vehicle, and that he had talked to the potential buyer about having the car crushed.

On March 19, Beckman was arrested and charged with tampering with or fabricating physical evidence in Dubois's case. A photo of him is posted with this case summary. Due to lack of evidence, he has not been charged with actually causing Dubois's disappearance.

Dubois's case is being investigated as a homicide. It remains unsolved.

Going deep into the Texas Hill Country's crowded brush and trees in search of forgotten gravestones, San Antonio resident Chelsie Fale stumbled upon a morbid discovery she wasn't seeking — the remains of a young Schertz man missing for more than a year.

Jacob Dubois, who would be 23 now, went missing over a year and a half ago on March 7, 2021. His remains, found be Fale in the early afternoon of September 10, answered part of the mystery to the Texan’s disappearance.

“After finding out it was Jacob, I'm trying to understand what his mom must have been through not knowing," Fale said. "I have seven kids myself."

“He was arrested at the time for tampering or fabricating physical evidence. While police wrote in April 2021 court documents they were investigating Beckman for murder, it has taken until this month for him to be formally charged.”

Authorities previously said Dubois met with Beckman in March 2021 but never returned home. Later, police said Beckman kept providing conflicting stories about where he dropped off his friend. Investigators later found blood in Beckman's car, along with items that could be used to dispose of a body; when Beckman was subsequently arrested, he stopped cooperating with police.

On Monday, a Guadalupe County jury came back with a guilty verdict against Beckman for first-degree murder and tampering with or fabricating evidence in the death of Dubois
