I just stumbled upon this case, just a few minutes ago. My heart starts racing with anxiety just imagining that last walk together. How could any human being stand beside someone and continue walking that person toward their death, let alone a spouse?! SMHI agree with the retired US District Attorney that spoke to Fox4 news today that being convinced through Jennifer's manipulation and lies is not a defense for DL.
However, reading the judge and US Asst Attorney Calvert's statements today, I think DL will be given consideration for mitigating factors at sentencing. As I posted earlier, I don't see him going to trial -- at least that's my hope for Jamie's family and friends.
This horrific murder will stay with me for a long time. I just can't fathom the couple walking out the door with their dog in tow, and Jennifer knowing all along that Jamie would never step foot alive inside their home again. Hard to wrap my head around this kind of evil. JMO

Extradited from TN to TX January, 2021. $1M bond.
Trial set to begin on 7/21/23 with jury selection & trial will begin on 7/24/23.

3/24/23 Update: The case was set for trial by jury on 4/3/23 but by defense motion dated 3/23/23, the defense requested a continuance or trial after it received voluminous military & medical records from the Federal Gov’t on 3/8/23 pursuant to the defense's request dated Nov 2022. Defense motioned they needed more time to review & index the records for discovery & also locate military and/or Federal Gov’t expert witnesses. Motion for continuance of trial-granted. New trial date is set to begin on 7/21/23 with jury selection & trial will begin on 7/24/23. Since there was a trial scheduled on 4/3/23 he has a status conference hearing on this date. 3/29/23: for Stacey-Leigh Van Der Westhuizen ATF to appear on 7/21/23 @ 9am to testify as witness for State.
4/3/23 Update: Next status conference hearing on 4/20/23.
*Federal charge (1/22/21) & indicted 3/25/21) with Federal firearm crime-transporting a firearm in interstate commerce with intent to commit a felony offense. Plead not guilty.

9/28/21: Lopez faces up to 10 years in federal prison on the firearm charge & up to life in a state penitentiary on the Dallas County murder charge. NDTX Assistant U.S. Attorney Rick Calvert, Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew Briggs & Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian McKay are prosecuting the case. U.S. Magistrate Judge Rebecca Rutherford is assigned to the case. This federal case will trail his Texas State trial.
*Jennifer Lynne Faith (wife) - Federal case: 2/4/22: Plead guilty (to avoid the death penalty) to murder-for-hire & was sentenced on 6/21/22 to life in Federal prison without parole.
