According to an AMBER Alert issued Monday night, Lina Sardar Khil was last seen around 5 p.m. on the 9400 block of Fredericksburg Road. Authorities said she was last seen wearing a black jacket, a red dress, and black shoes. She has straight, shoulder-length hair, last seen in a ponytail.

Sitting in his apartment after another round of searching with volunteers, Khil spoke through an interpreter in Pashto, his native language, about Lina, the day she disappeared and her family’s life here and in Afghanistan.

Details of Disappearance​

Lina was last seen playing at the playground at her apartment complex in the 9400 block of Fredericksburg Road in San Antonio, Texas, on December 20, 2021. She was at the playground with her mother and younger brother between 4:30 and 5:10 p.m. when her mother left for a short time, and when she returned, Lina was gone. The child has never been heard from again.

Lina and her family are refugees from Afghanistan; they arrived in the United States in 2019. She lived in the Villas del Cabo apartment complex with her parents and brother, and her mother was pregnant with another boy. Many refugees lived in the neighborhood, and Lina's parents initially thought a refugee family was taking care of Lina and would return her.

After they realized Lina was missing, her parents went door-to-door in the apartment complex, asking if anyone had seen her. They also reached out to San Antonio's Afghan community. When they were unable to locate her by 7:15 p.m., they called the police.

The family has cooperated with the police and are not considered suspects in her case. Although little evidence is available in her case, the circumstances of Lina's disappearance suggest she was abducted by a non-family member. Her case remains unsolved.

A vigil will be held at 1 p.m. today at the former Villas del Cabo Apartments off Fredericksburg Road where Lina disappeared on Dec. 20, 2021. The apartments have since been renamed Vive Apartments and are a gated community.

Gibson has been the Forensic Sketch Artist for the Houston Police Department for 40 years until 2 years ago. One of her sketches was also the first one ever shown on the show "America's Most Wanted." Now she spends her time still doing what she loves to do but out of her Spring home.

The video was taken by her father just after she turned three, that's 2 years ago today. Gibson saw videos and pictures which helped her with the age progression sketch. She reminded us that some things about a child will never change. Lina's eyebrows will always be thick and dark and she also has an inverted triangle-shaped dent under her chin.

I'm still holding out hope that Lina will make it home to her family. With Ramadan approaching, I imagine it will only weigh heavier on her parents that she has been missing so long. This baby girl needs to be alive.

With the possibility that Lena was kidnapped to "complete a set" in regards to children, I am hoping that increased Ramadan mosque attendance may lead to somebody hearing about a family that dropped out of sight mosque / social calendar wise after an unusual "adoption" etc.

To me, Lena's case seems vaguely similar to these unsolved kidnappings: Every Theory About The Harlem Kidnapping Cases From 'Unsolved Mysteries'

Though all children are cute, the missing children were seen as being especially cute / attractive. They also both had the uncommon "pop eyed" physical feature that can be seen as desirable. Lena could also be seen as especially attractive, even when compared to other little girls.

With the NYC children, the police pursued every motive, including a "shopping list for an adoption" type motive. As with Lena, nothing panned out.
