Maleah Davis update: Stepdad's initial story didn't add up, Sugar Land police say
[...]

Vence arrived at Sugar Land Methodist Hospital Saturday night, appearing to have fresh wounds from an attack. He said he had been in and out of consciousness since the attack and didn't really know where he was until 6 p.m. Saturday. That's when he said he walked to the hospital for treatment.

On Tuesday, the Sugar Land police spokesman said Vence's story has changed since he first talked to investigators -- specifically the nature of how he got to the hospital.

He said Sugar Land police is assisting the Houston Police Department, who are leading the investigation.

Update #5

Friday, May 3, 2019
  • DV was driving a silver 2011 Nissan Altima with TX paper tags 3092G9 to IAH with Maleah and her 2-year-old brother to pick up Maleah’s mother (“BB”), who was returning from her father's funeral in MA. [1] [2]
  • DV heard a popping noise and pulled over when a blue Chevrolet pickup w/crew cab, possibly a 2010, pulled behind him and two Hispanic males got out. One of them said Maleah looks very nice, looks very sweet. The other male hit DV on the head and he lost consciousness. [2] The Altima was allegedly stolen. [1]
  • When DV didn’t show up at the airport, BB called her mother, (“BB2”), to come and get her, but didn’t report DV and the children missing. [2]
  • DV was in and out of consciousness, but at one point he was in the back of the suspects' truck with his son and Maleah and then there were three suspects in the vehicle. [1]
  • Maleah was last seen approx 8 p.m. per the Amber Alert. [3]
  • BB did not have her house keys and spent the night with BB2 [11]
Saturday, May 4, 2019
  • BB told ABC13 they called police Sat a.m. to file a report because they were concerned they had not heard from DV, but detective clearly stated no report was filed [2].
  • BB2 explained that on Sat, they went to the PD again when nobody was contacting them and found out they had to fill out more forms, call the missing person’s unit, etc. [11]
  • 2:54 p.m. - The Nissan Altima was seen on a traffic camera near Hwy 59 & State Hwy 6 in Sugar Land. [1] [2]
  • 6 p.m. DV woke up on the side of the SW Freeway near SH 6 in Sugar Land, about 22 miles SW of Houston - near First Colony Mall. [2] His son was with him and he wandered around for four or five hours trying to summon help. [2]
  • 10 or 11 p.m. – DV and his son arrived on foot at Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital. DV and his son were treated for minor injuries, released, and police were called around midnight. [4] [5] From the mall to the hospital (.4 miles/10 min walk): Google Maps

Tuesday, May 7, 2019
  • TXEQ searched near Hwy 59 and Greens Road, then suspended efforts there and moved to Bissonnet and Kirkwood, near the family’s home at 9850 S. Kirkwood. [15]

If I recall correctly from the live video with BB2, BB contacted LE on Saturday morning, and made an incomplete report.

After there was no follow up from LE, BB2 assisted BB in making a complete report including her missing children, DV, and vehicle.

I do believe that BB was fearful of contact by CPS, and fear motivated her initial, incomplete police report on her missing family.

MOO
I wonder if there were some wires crossed between the two police departments, because the original report was made at SLPD. Then the case was handed to HPD who held the presser and when asked about a report, said they didn't have one. Might have something to do with it. Then again, maybe not.

Sugar Land police largely handed the case off to Houston police after Vence’s initial interview, Adolph said.

Stepfather now person of interest in case of missing 4-year-old Maleah Davis, police say
Sugar Land police said they went to the Methodist Hospital Saturday because Vence showed up there with flesh wounds. They took video but handed it over to the Houston Police Department, which is investigating the case.

They found DV's car. Maleah was not in it.
The car was clean and no evidence of foul play.
I suppose they could always use luminol on it ?

I'm sure that car is getting the full work-up. The detective on the live feed earlier today stated the vehicle would be towed and processed, as he was conducting a press conference in the parking lot the vehicle was located in.

MALEAH DAVIS TIMELINE
Thursday, 12:10 p.m.: KHOU 11 Investigates has learned that Vence and Maleah's mother, Brittany Bowens, are banned from having any contact with their son or any of the Bowens’ other children. The ruling came during an emergency hearing Wednesday.
Wow.

Police say Maleah Davis’ stepfather has missed several meetings. He claims that three men beat him up and kidnapped the four year old. Detectives would like to talk to him. WHERE IS MALEAH? https://abc13.com/maleah-davis-what-we-know-about-missing-houston-4-year-old/5287129/ …

I feel badly for TES.
If someone(s) would divulge some info. , they wouldn't be sent on what essentially could be a wild goose chase.
Many aspects of this case have me seething.
And don't get me started on the importance of 'reunification' when some parents have not completed steps that they should have... The system is failing our nations' children.

Without a specific time frame, watching videos from the area car was found will be a lengthy process, imo. I guess 5hey can start the day of the (imo) fake abduction, beginning prior to DV arriving at hospital.
I would think by a.m. LE might know when the car reached its destination.

Update: Stepdad of missing girl Maleah Davis hasn’t showed up to work at PharMEDium in a week, his coworker tells me. Darion Vence was sent home because he was vomiting last week. He was officially “home with the flu” by Friday. This week he isn’t answering calls about absence.

More likely that they will start with today and work backwards.
