Update #5

Friday, May 3, 2019
  • DV was driving a silver 2011 Nissan Altima with TX paper tags 3092G9 to IAH with Maleah and her 2-year-old brother to pick up Maleah’s mother (“BB”), who was returning from her father's funeral in MA. [1] [2]
  • DV heard a popping noise and pulled over when a blue Chevrolet pickup w/crew cab, possibly a 2010, pulled behind him and two Hispanic males got out. One of them said Maleah looks very nice, looks very sweet. The other male hit DV on the head and he lost consciousness. [2] The Altima was allegedly stolen. [1]
  • When DV didn’t show up at the airport, BB called her mother, (“BB2”), to come and get her, but didn’t report DV and the children missing. [2]
  • DV was in and out of consciousness, but at one point he was in the back of the suspects' truck with his son and Maleah and then there were three suspects in the vehicle. [1]
  • Maleah was last seen approx 8 p.m. per the Amber Alert. [3]
  • BB did not have her house keys and spent the night with BB2 [11]

  • 6 p.m. DV woke up on the side of the SW Freeway near SH 6 in Sugar Land, about 22 miles SW of Houston - near First Colony Mall. [2] His son was with him and he wandered around for four or five hours trying to summon help. [2]
  • 10 or 11 p.m. – DV and his son arrived on foot at Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital. DV and his son were treated for minor injuries, released, and police were called around midnight. [4] [5] From the mall to the hospital (.4 miles/10 min walk): Google Maps

The mother of missing 4-year-old Maleah Davis is blaming her common-law husband for the girl’s disappearance, alleging he might have retaliated after a fight and accusing him of past abuse.

Community activist Quanell X dropped the accusations on Friday, speaking on behalf of Maleah’s mother Brittany Bowens. He said Bowens has seen a surveillance video that apparently shows the girl’s stepfather walking out of his apartment with bleach, a laundry container and a black bag she believes contained the girl’s body.

“There’s a lot that hasn’t come out, that’s for sure,” he said Friday. “It’s just a sad story.”

Houston Police Department officials declined to comment on what evidence they might have, or corroborate whether Bowens was meeting with HPD officers Friday to discuss the video, which a neighbor apparently caught from their home.

“We’re not confirming anything at this point,” police spokesman Victor Senties said.

In the video, Vence was seen the morning after Bowens went to Massachusetts for her father’s funeral carrying two bottles of bleach, a large laundry container and a black bag stuffed inside, Quanell X said.

Bowens believes that Maleah’s disappearance was triggered by a confrontation she had with Vence the day before her trip, Quanell X said. She asked Vence about nude photos he allegedly sent to another person, and he “snapped.”

He took it out on Maleah, possibly because of indications that he physically and sexually abused the girl, who has special needs, Quanell X said. She described severe bruising on the little girl’s leg on at least one occasion, as well as suspicions she had been molested.

“It was out of fear and out of being threatened by Mr. Darion that she covered up physical abuse of Maleah that the stepfather was doing,” the activist said. “For some reason, she was unwilling to tell everything she knew about him. And I think the mother has a twisted love for the man.”

Bowens reportedly broke off the couple's engagement.

"She told him she was giving back his ring and that she was not going to marry him. I believe that caused him to snap in anger," Quanell said. "There is a reason to believe, based on what I know now, there's issues of him possibly molesting young Maleah."

Quanell admitted Bowens never reported any alleged abuse to police.

Houston police say they have no additional comment during their ongoing investigation. Eyewitness News is in the process of reaching out to Vence for a response to the allegations.

Maybe she meant she only broke off engagement, not actually ending their relationship. Why would he be angry for her breaking off the engagement. They’ve had two years to marry & did not. IMO he’d have no trouble replacing BB.
Did he snap because she called off the nuptials or because she found nude pics on his phone?

Also how will Eyewitness reach DV if he’s left the area?

I agree with this completely. When was it made common knowledge that a biologically unrelated male *obviously* is going to molest a female child if left alone/diapers/bathing etc. I think it’s really sad and I think this way of thinking and reacting to such actually makes more space for this kind of predation..
@ Dre I agree, but I guess it completely depends on what kind of people you chose to allow around your children!!

I agree, many domestic violence victims can’t just up and leave. It’s not that easy. But what is easy is to avoid bringing your children into relationships, especially new relationships. As a parent, your kids come before your romantic life. If there’s not a responsible babysitter, gparents, aunts, uncles, their other parent, you sit your happy little behind home. It’s possible to date without bringing your kids into it so quickly. That way, you really get to know someone, their intentions, their character, the way they handle stresses. If you don’t move in together so quickly, it’s much easier to end a violent relationship.

We assume BB and DV have been together for several years. But when did she become concerned about his inappropriate bathing and spanking? It’s hard for me to believe he was a great guy up until now. And once again, the kids pay the price. Maleah especially, but her brothers have been majorly victimized too. Imo

agree.

Possibly the reason for the rumors of her stating she was home when DV snuck MD back in the house?

I believe this is so, I think she was just trying to get ahead by saying 'he snuck her in unaware to her' as she knew sooner or later it would show her leaving the apt after they returned, but of course the only way to know this is to wait until they release the official times etc. As of know its just my opinion an speculation.

I don't, I think he and BB fought - which is why she mentioned a fight - those on his neck look like fingernail scratches. Plus, I don't recall his saying he had any other injuries aside from the fresh, bloody, superficial wound on his forehead. I also believe it was Maleah's mother that dropped him off at the hospital - who else would have?
Hmmm...interesting. Absolutely - very well could have been BB. MOO: can’t get this off my mind, BB’s mom’s interview just totally got to me. Controlled, devoid of emotion, almost like she was a marketing manager trying to spin a bad situation - damage control. IMO she could have stepped in Saturday afternoon to mastermind the kidnapping scenario and set up storyline. Hey, just a feeling.
