Byran is in between Austin & Houston, about 100 miles northwest of Houston. It's nearby Texas A&M University.
"According to Lt. JC James of the Bryan Police Department, the suspect is at large and the extent of the victims' injuries is not yet known after the shooting at an industrial complex. The number of victims was also not immediately released, but James added at least six ambulances arrived after the shooting was called out at about 2:30 p.m."

“Trooper Tovar remains in serious but stable condition,” the department shared on social media Friday morning. “He is currently receiving outstanding care, surrounded by his family and friends while his fellow troopers hold watch.”

“My brother was a good loving man, and nobody deserve that, nobody,” Jackl said about her brother’s death. “It’s not okay.”

“I don’t understand why my nephews now have to grow up without a daddy,” Jackl said of his 14 and 8 year old sons. “I don’t think I’m ever going to understand that.”

Kent Moore Cabinets released a statement on the shooting, calling the events that took place at the facility “devastating.”

“Our hearts go out to the families and the loved ones of those affected,” the statement read in part. “We want to thank the many members of our law enforcement teams and other emergency personnel who responded so quickly. We are fully cooperating with law enforcement during the investigation of this horrible crime.

The victim is 40-year-old Timothy Smith of Bryan.

DPS also says there are two other people in critical condition and two others whose condition has stabilized.

The shooting happened at the factory around 2:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon. Marc Barren, an employee, was inside when the shooting started.

“I heard the first few shots, and I run out. I’m running out, and I keep hearing them,” Barren says.

Barren worked in the warehouse for two years, and was surprised to hear this happen.

“You see him everyday, quiet. Offering to buy people food, get stuff out of the vending machine, telling people ‘Thank you’ for this and that,” says Barren.

Barren’s work area was close to the suspect, who has been identified as Larry Bollin. He’s currently charged with murder. More charges are pending.

Central Church will be holding a prayer vigil Friday, April 9 at 6:30 p.m.

“The goal of this gathering is to grieve with those who are mourning, unify our community in the midst of tragedy, and pray for hope in the midst of hardship. Psalm 50:15 says, ‘Call on me in a day of trouble; I will rescue you, and you will honor me.’ Please join us as we gather during this difficult time for the Brazos Valley,” said a message from Phillip Bethancourt, pastor at Central Church.

A prayer vigil has also been planned for Sunday at 7p.m., at the Madison County Courthouse. Those in charge said it will be dedicated to the brave men and woman serving in the line of duty, as well as the family members and friends of all involved in Thursday’s event. They ask that everyone bring a candle, flashlight, or anything that lights up.

The people who witness this tragic incident are still trying to process what happened.

“I turned my phone down, I told my daughter that I loved her and my boyfriend,” said Amelia Rodriguez. “I didn’t know what was going to happen, I thought it was several people involved.”

“I heard the gunshots and took off running once everyone else did,” Chad said.

“I feel bad for they family,” Christian Taylor said “You know it’s just crazy man, it all happened all of a sudden.”

“The dude is kind of quiet, he is kind of dude you would not expect to do this type of stuff,” Barren said. “I guess that’s why people didn’t expect stuff like this to happen.”

With guns so prevalent in the United States, there may be a last line of defense when a person decides to use a gun for evil purposes. Arizona based company Defendry developed artificial intelligence technology that integrates with existing surveillance systems. The software recognizes a weapon then triggers actions like automatic door locks, cell phone alerts and calls to law enforcement.

Defendry has clients including schools, retail centers, businesses and amusement parks. CEO Pat Sullivan said the cost can be about as much as an security guard, but the impact is priceless.

“What is the emotional cost to the community, for it to happen, you can't put a number it,” said Sullivan.
