TX - Mayor killed in apparent donkey attack

http://www.kens5.com/story/news/2015/03/04/bohlke-donkey-death-investigation/24403247/

Almost immediately after his death, the family began asking the county to do an autopsy on Bohlke, an Air Force veteran. They said the county always dragged it's feet and insisted it was the donkey that killed him.

They eventually hired a private forensics investigator who said there is no way Bohlke was killed by an animal. He said there were no secretions, no hair and no animal DNA on Bohlke's clothes... Their forensic investigator point to a boot print on the back of the shirt Bohlke was wearing at the time of his death and burns on his skin which appear to come from a tazer, as evidence he was killed by humans...

They said the county secretly exhumed Bohlke, secretly did an autopsy and now are trying to keep the results secret. They are asking the state to intervene. They want someone else to look into the case, so a new set of unbiased eyes might see something investigators either missed or don't want to reveal.

Anytime a politician dies under odd circumstances you know there is more to the story. I'm surprised they didn't use the ol' heart attack excuse but the donkey is a new twist in a very old game.

Yes, very odd circumstances, and politics can rile ppl up, even in small community of 3200,
like 1 1/2 sq. mi. of Hollywood Park in San Antonio TX metro area.
Per http://www.city-data.com/city/Hollywood-Park-Texas.html, no murders there 2001-2012,
of course not counting the mayor's death.

Still very odd.

We had Donkeys when I was a kid in North Idaho.

"The autopsy said the manner of death is "to be determined by the Justice of the Peace," not the medical examiner or another medical professional. The report does mention local authorities believe Bohlke was killed by a farm animal...

"Today, a Justice of the Peace ruled Bohlke's death investigation is officially closed, but the former mayor's family vows to keep fighting."

Seems strange that autopsy report would say that. A pathologist wrote that?
