Human skeletal remains found in Milam County

MILAM COUNTY -- Authorities in Milam County are combing the woods off Highway 77 trying to piece together human remains found Thursday morning.

At about 10 a.m. TX-DOT road crews reported finding skeletal remains near abandoned railroad tracks.

The tracks are just beyond the trees off Highway 77, five miles north of Cameron.

The Milam County Sheriff's Office, along with several state troopers, have had the area near Loop 139 roped off as a crime scene.

they wasted no time setting up a Namus profile for this UID. unfortunately it does not say much besides age, 17-30, white and approximately 5'0" tall, dead maybe 1 yr.

if I must say so, 5'0" is very short for Caucasian adult males, yet there is no indication the UID was Hispanic.

Indeed, this would be a very small man (or even 17 y/o) I work in a high school, and the only boys that small are ones with handicaps- ie: Down's Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, etc. Even our tiniest freshmen boys are still in the 5'3" or more range.

I would say either: a) age of UID is younger than listed, b) race not "Caucasian" (perhaps Hispanic or Asian) or c) person with handicap/medical condition that limits growth.

Or, of course, perhaps the height is taller than first approximation...

It's a white male, about 17-30 years old, 60 inches, died 2009 to 2010, who had healing fractures on the right scapula.

Blue jeans, a belt, a pair of socks, a tank top, and a pair of canvas deck shoes were found in the vicinity, but none were actually on the body.

Dentals are available, his teeth are mostly natural, some are missing.

Crowding/partially rotated lower central incisor, and upper left lateral incisor/canine area (10-11) are also crowded/turned slightly. He had tooth #17 (lower left wisdom tooth) extracted at some time in his life.

    DNA is available.

unfortunately "Hispanic" is more ethnicity than a racial categorization. I've seen it many, many times. you'd be surprised how frequently Hispanics themselves identify as white regardless of how dark they are as if they do not consider themselves to be black, then the other option is to say white.

I am glad they identified this man and did what was necessary to facilitate the family claiming the remains.
