I wonder if she was Fort Bend County Jane Doe (1984). Her namus was removed recently as well.

Her body was found within days of her having gone missing and in the same county, but it took 38 years to connect the two.

This is why I never hesitate to suggest a UID as a missing person when there is only one of each in a county, clearly no one else is looking.

I just read about this case for the first time. The woman went missing and her unidentified body were both found in the same county in December 1984. I’m wondering exactly how many missing females and unidentified female bodies, total, that county had to go through in, say, December 1984 and all of 1985 - to make a connection. A whole bunch? Glad for the family they finally found her, anyway.

EDIT: did I get that wrong - was she missing from Harris County? OK, how many missing females and unidentified females bodies did Harris County and all the surrounding counties (of which Fort Bend County would be one) have total, to go through? A larger number, undoubtedly.

It's not clear to me if she was reported missing in 1984. I wonder if LE had already narrowed the Doe's identity down through forensic genealogy, approached her family, then added her to NamUs when LE realized that there was a missing woman. Her identity was then confirmed via DNA. She would have been 29 at the time of her disappearance, so, depending on the circumstances, it may have been difficult to make a report to LE at that time.
