GUILTY TX - PFC Vanessa Guillen, 20, Fort Hood military base, items left behind, 22 Apr 2020 *arrests* #4

The Texas Department of Public Safety has confirmed that Aaron Robinson killed fellow soldier Vanessa Guillen after she saw a photo of Robinson's married lover on his phone.

Investigators believe Robinson, then 20, bludgeoned Guillen, also then 20, to death with a hammer, removed her body from an armory at Fort Hood, Texas, and then dismembered her and buried her remains on April 22.

Robinson died as cops moved to arrest him, with his death reported as a suicide.

His married lover - Cecily Aguilar, 22 - was charged with tampering with evidence after she told investigators that she helped her boyfriend Specialist Aaron Robinson - the main suspect in Guillen's death - bury her body in April of last year.

The state believes that Aguilar was the woman on Robinson's phone.

'He told her he was worried about getting in trouble for violating the Army's fraternization rules since Aguilar was still married to another soldier and he hit Guillen in the head with a hammer,' investigators said.
Why would investigators state anything Aguilar says as a fact? Its not a fact.
MOO, AR told Aguilar that so she would help him.

The reason PFC Guillen went to the armory where AR worked, on a day off, was to follow up on a weapon serial number discrepency.

OK, so now we can confirm the Govt Prosecutor's theory. I believe alleging CA as the woman in the photos makes sense and ties her to the motive while CA still doing her best to play ignorant here.

I would "like" your post - but I can't access the article - EU rules... :(

FORT HOOD, Texas — A document from the Texas Department of Public Safety that was filed in federal court reveals the motive behind why Fort Hood Spc. Vanessa Guillen was murdered in 2020 by fellow soldier Spc. Aaron Robinson.

The document, filed on May 19 this year, describes an interview with Cecily Aguilar, the only person charged in Guillen's murder. At one point, authorities asked Aguilar why her boyfriend, Robinson, would want to kill Guillen. She told authorities he did it because Guillen saw a photo of Aguilar on Robinson's phone, the document states.

[..]

Aguilar's 'confession'

Prior to revealing the motive behind Guillen's murder, Aguilar spoke to authorities multiple times during the search, according to the document. Throughout, she claimed she was at home the night Guillen disappeared and that Robinson was with her, the document states. However, the day Guillen's body was found, Aguilar told authorities a different story, according to the document.

[..]

"I asked Aguilar to start the story over and tell the truth this time. She then asked if I would like her to write it down or tell it to me, to which I told her to tell me what happened," the detective says in the document.

Aguilar told authorities "Robinson killed the girl," the document states. She proceeded to tell authorities how Robinson took her out to the Leon River and "showed me her," the document adds.

She also claimed she didn't know Robinson was taking her to the Leon River and that he held a gun to her head to help him dispose of Guillen's body while there, the document states. Authorities said she was lying about that detail, per the document:

"Aguilar further explained she bought two bags for $10 after querying 'concrete for sale' on Facebook marketplace. She got the idea to buy the concrete that way from watching the show CSI/Criminal Minds and believed she would not leave a 'paper trail.' ... During the conversation about the concrete, Aguilar said they used the concrete both nights. I realized this contradicted her claim of not knowing why she was going to the Leon River the first night and asked her to clarify. Aguilar then said they only used the concrete on the second night. I later learned Aguilar bought the concrete the first night, prior to even going to the Leon River, thus she lied about Robinson forcing her at gunpoint while at the location."

Aguilar told authorities she then removed Guillen's body from the government-owned tote Robinson carried her in because "Robinson didn't want to," the document states. She told them how she then dismembered Guillen's body and burned her remains, along with Guillen's clothes and the government tote, per the documents.

She told authorities they returned to the location a second night to finish dismembering Guillen's body, as well as burying her bones in the ground and covering it with concrete, the document states.

"Aguilar and Robinson placed the bones in three or four holes and thought they would not be discovered for a couple of years," the document states.

[..]

Robinson escapes military custody, kills self

[..]

While Aguilar was with authorities, she was asked "to get Robinson to see if he will talk about the murder by telling him that she was scared and wanted to turn herself in," the document adds.

"Robinson eventually began to admit culpability after Aguilar asked, 'What are we going to do if we get caught?' Robinson replied, 'I don't know,' Aguilar then said, 'I'm going to tell them the truth. I can't keep doing this,' to which he said, 'okay.' Robinson went on to say he was in a conference room and he did not want Aguilar to abandon him," the document states.

Around 10:10 p.m. on June 30, 2020, authorities were notified that Robinson managed to elude authorities and get off post, the document states.

So far they couldn't be bothered to collect the lid of a rolling case of the type AR had been seen taking from post the day she disappeared from a search area (one where she was later found.)

Couldn't keep the suspect in custody.

Couldn't luminol the last place she was seen alive.

Couldn't put two and two together. Just "soldier on soldier violence"0 says the post
Commander Effluent.

Court documents filed on May 19 by Texas officials revealed a potential motive in the 2020 murder of Army Spc. Vanessa Guillen.

Cecily Aguilar, the only defendant charged in the murder, told investigators that Spc. Aaron Robinson hit Guillen in the head with a hammer after Guillen saw a picture of Aguilar on Robinson’s phone, according to a 61-page Texas Department of Public Safety investigation.

Family of murdered soldier files suit:

The litigation comes following a decision Thursday by a three-judge panel from the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco stating that an Army colonel could proceed with a lawsuit against a former Air Force General over a sexual assault allegation. The court found that a 1950’s Supreme Court decision known as the Feres Doctrine, which bars service members injured during active duty from seeking damages from the federal government, could not be broadly applied by the Department of Defense to include sexual assault and harassment claims.

This won't bring her back -- but should increase awareness & speed up needed changes.

That and service members sign waivers when they sign their contract. I had to in the 90's when I joined.

Just a terrible case of awful leadership in the U.S. military.

Hmmm, it will be interesting to see what happens here and how the US defends it. The suit apparently claims rape and sodomy. I think that is the first we have heard of this. And the wrongful death was unrelated to the sex harassment And its not clear that her killer was someone that she had had problems with before.

How would they know. Was there evidence after burning and burying her?
All I know is that the officer in charge of the MPs on post and officer in charge of the CID Investigators needed courts martial. A mechanic in the army loses rank and literally can be courts martialed for putting the wrong lubricant into an aircraft or tank. Dereliction on this level needed consequences.
I hope their suit wins, though the military enjoys a general immunity.
The MP/CID/Command Chain behavior was unprofessional and offensive.
I hope the family never stop seeking justice for VG against these miscreants painting themselves falsely as honorable soldiers.

I spent quite a while in the Army and will readily agree MP's and CID are not very competent. They just are not up to the task of these kinds of crimes.
The sexual harassment claims are another matter. It is a problem. It always has been but may be getting worse. The lax discipline enforcement lets this stuff seem tolerated and accepted and it shouldn't be. I do think that taking reporting and investigation out of the chain of command will certainly help.

I can finally shorten this one up a bit...

Trial will proceed. 3/9/22: The defense team is seeking video or audio recordings of several trips to the Bell County site where the soldier’s remains were found. On March 8, federal public defender Lewis Berray Gainor filed a nine-page motion to compel prosecutors to release evidence in the case as part of the discovery process. Along with the motion, Gainor filed three sealed exhibits that are not available to the public. In their motion to compel, Aguilar’s defense team requested “all video or audio footage, or any other evidence of Ms. Aguilar’s first trip to the Leon River site with law enforcement on the morning of July 1, 2020, or any other undisclosed evidence of statements by Ms. Aguilar,” according to the motion. “Without speculating too much, counsel believes that recordings of the trip might include exculpatory evidence, and is concerned the government is withholding the evidence for that reason, or that it was destroyed.” On Feb. 25, her attorneys filed a motion to suppress her statements to police because they say she was not presented in a timely manner to a magistrate judge, instead bringing her to the Leon River site. The Feb. 25 motion is sealed, but it is referenced in the March 8 motion to compel discovery. A federal judge has not yet ruled on either of these defense motions.
