San Antonio police are asking for the public's help in finding a 58-year-old woman.

Police said Sally Hines was last seen Dec. 14 in the 5600 block of Timber Steep.

Hines suffers from a medical condition and is under a doctor's care, police said.

Hines is described as 5 feet tall, weighing 130 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Police said she was last seen wearing a gray-and-black blouse, black tights and a gray-and-black shawl.

Hines was last seen on December 14, 2017 on Timber Steep near Tezel Road on the far Northwest Side. "At this point there’s no reason to believe that Sally would have left without telling family members and friends, " said Officer Alisia Pruneda, a spokesperson for the San Antonio Police Department.

Sally was 58 years old at the time of her disappearance. Police say Sally suffers from a medical condition and is under doctor's care. "She left behind her purse, her cellphone, and a parked car, " added Pruneda.

The anonymous tipster recognized Hines' face from a composite image from LSU's faces lab and a missing person's flyer.

Police said after years of intense investigations the case was ultimately solved through a random tipster who has an interest in trying to match missing people online.

'The irony of the cases though, even though we were getting to the very detailed forensic examination, the case was basically solved by just an individual looking on the internet,' Cameron Parish Corner Kevin Dupke told KPLC-TV.

The identification was confirmed on Wednesday through dental records and Hines' next of kin was notified.

Last week, Cameron Parish Sheriff Ron Johnson confirmed that the woman had been positively identified as 58-year-old Sally Ann Hines, who disappeared from her home in San Antonio, Texas in late 2017. Hines is listed as an Indigenous Woman/Native American, joining a long list of females more susceptible to murder, rape, and violence than the rest of the U.S. population.

Few details are known surrounding Hines’s disappearance. Her husband, Harold Hines, reported her missing on Dec. 14, 2017, noting in 2018 that she had recently received treatment “for a mental condition,” according local Louisiana news outlet KPLC. Hines had walked off on foot, leaving behind her medications, purse, phone, and car, her husband said.

Ditto. And I also really hope that detectives can piece together what happened to Sally and, if applicable, make an arrest or arrests. Because Sally did not walk from San Antonio TX to Cameron Parish, LA. IMHO.

It's been nearly six months since her positive ID, and authorities have released no further details about any leads or pending arrests. The Cameron Parish Sheriff's Office is taking lead on the investigation into the discovery of her remains. Cameron Parish Sheriff Ron Johnson has not responded to questions about the status of their investigation

Sally's older sister, Barbara Gauthier, said that Sally and her husband of 35 years, Harold, were no longer living together, but they remained friendly and would still see each other frequently.

"She had a roommate," Barbara said. "She wasn't with another man, but she had a roommate. And they had a disagreement, and that's how she ended up at her husband's house that night."

"I think it was someone that she knew," Barbara said. "It had to be. And they disposed of her (in Louisiana). That's the only thing. She didn't know anybody in Louisiana."
