Detectives are exploring the possibility the death of a three-year-old girl from Birmingham may have involved acid, the BBC understands.

A woman in her 20s, believed to be the child's mother, has been arrested in connection with the girl's death.

Police discovered the child's body at a house in Milverton Road, Erdington, on Saturday evening.

Police are investigating if a hazardous substance found at the scene caused her death or was used after she had died.

A post-mortem examination was inconclusive and further toxicology and forensic tests are due to be carried out on the child's body.

oh god..........the fact that they think it might have been used after she died means to me, they killed her another way and then were trying to destroy the body :(
