I also have the feeling he thought Bobbi-Anne was a a child. It may have enraged him when he realized she wasn't.

Brazen, opportunistic predator.

Whole life tariff needs to mean exactly that: you die in prison. End of.

I hope her family and friends can find a bit of comfort.

I don't think this case fits the criteria for a whole life sentence.

There aren’t any specified criteria as such, the only criterion is how serious the offence is when considered overall. Certain factors such as multiple victims make a whole life sentence more likely, that’s true.

That said, as mentioned above I agree that I don’t think CA will get a whole life sentence for this crime. The other examples where a single murder has resulted in a whole life sentence had other elements that don’t seem to be present here (Jamie Reynolds very significantly planned the death of his victim in sadistic detail, Wayne Couzens was a police officer abusing his public office to abduct his victim).

There are aggravating factors — the violence, any sexual motive — but it’s not going to tip the balance as “serious enough” under our current system is my guess, as vile as this crime is.

Well …. so just out of nowhere?
An unprovoked murderous attack against a small woman in his local area that begins in his own car??
That makes me think he’s most likely hurt others before… has there been any mention of that?

From your article-
“Officer Stowe revealed what the job is like behind bars to break down myths and help attract more females to the ranks. In reality, it's keeping a routine, chatting about football to inmates and even helping some prisoners lose weight.”

Grrrr…. do not like the thought of someone chatting to this beast about football & helping him lose weight after he brutally stole Bobbi-Anne’s life from her

Judge has praised the behaviour of those present at previous hearings and has requested this decorum continues or he will clear the public gallery and return Ackland to the cells.

Bobbi-Anne spotted at the bus stop

By 7:15pm her mother had not heard from Bobbi-Anne and messaged her asking if she was ok. Back at the bus stop a local man was walking along pavement. Remembers it being quiet as he approached bus stop. He accidentally kicked something - Bobbi-Anne's phone and airpod case.

Ackland

Ackland handed himself in on the Tuesday. He went for an early lunch from the valetting company where he worked and went to the police station. He text fellow band members and family saying he loved them.
Ackland asked the officer at the front desk if they could go somewhere quiet. When asked why he said "it's about the Leigham misper". Seemed pale, nervous and was swallowing hard.
Asked why he came to the police station. He told them "I did it". His eyes began to well up.
