An Irish man has just appeared in court charged with the murder of 29 people who died in the Omagh, Ireland bombing in 1998. It was the single worst atrocity of the Troubles and victims included an 18 mnth old girl, Maura Monaghan, 12 yr old Jamie Parker and a woman pregnant with twins.

Seamus Daly, 43, from Culloville, Cnty Monaghan, Republic of Ireland, was refused bail because the judge said his previous membership and ties with the Real IRA made him a flight risk and he'd given a false name when arrested. Defence said he actually lives in N.Ireland, and his wife is about to give birth.

He has already been found liable in a civil court case but he has always strenuously denied any responsibility. He also faces two charges of attempted bombings in Cnty Antrim.
