A man charged with murdering a teacher and attempting to murder a 15-year-old boy intends to deny the charges, a court heard.

Paul Robson appeared before South East Northumberland Magistrates’ Court on Monday after being arrested near Glasgow on Friday.

The 49-year-old, of Stanley Street, Howdon, Wallsend, is accused of murdering Caroline Kayll, 47, and attempting to murder a 15-year-old, who cannot be identified for legal reasons as he is a juvenile, following an order made by the court.

Robson's solicitor Kash Khan told the court: "He is going to deny these matters.

"He is denying any specific intent and any unlawful actions."

Robson, who wore a grey T-shirt under a black quilted jacket, will next appear before Newcastle Crown Court on Wednesday.

I've just been reading about this case in the Daily Mail today (as reporting restrictions have been lifted).
Not sure if I'm allowed to put a link to the article, but it's a rather surprising state of affairs that ended in Caroline's murder (and the attempted murder of a 15 year old boy at the property).

Caroline Kayll: Cagefighter Paul Robson 'blackmailed and murdered' teacher

A cagefighter murdered his teacher ex-partner after blackmailing her about a relationship with a teenage boy, a jury has been told.

Caroline Kayll died after the "vicious" attack at her Northumberland home in November, Newcastle Crown Court heard.

A 15-year-old boy who was also at the property suffered multiple injuries.

Paul Robson, 50, of Wallsend, denies murder and blackmail, claiming Ms Kayll was killed by the teenager, whom he also denies assaulting.

Mr Robson had started a clandestine relationship with Ms Kayll, 47, while she was a married prison education worker and he was an inmate at HMP Northumberland.
