Claudia Lawrence investigation
http://www.northyorkshire.police.uk/13147

It is now six years since Claudia Lawrence disappeared without trace in York. Despite the intensive efforts of the police, the resolve of her heart-broken family and saturated media coverage, her sudden disappearance remains a mystery.

North Yorkshire Police's commitment and determination to solve the case and bring closure for Claudia's loved-ones, is undiminished by the passage of time.

Detective Superintendent Dai Malyn, head of the force's enhanced Major Crime Unit, is leading a comprehensive review of the original investigation.

This has been supported by national experts from other forces and agencies, including forensic specialists who recently completed a re-examination of Claudia's home on Heworth Road in York.

As a result of this work, Det Supt Malyn and his team have identified new lines of enquiry and fresh public appeals to pursue, as well as renewed appeals on previous key items of interest to the investigation.

Detective Chief Superintendent Simon Mason, Head of Crime for North Yorkshire Police, said: "The decision to focus and prioritise the efforts of the enhanced Major Crime Unit on this case and undertake a comprehensive review of the original investigation, is producing progressive results which we expect to continue over time."

ADMIN NOTE:

Pictures of minor children (unless they are the deceased or missing victim) are absolutely NOT ALLOWED.

Random youtube videos and blogs, or images and screenshots of random people from social media are NOT ALLOWED.

All members are required to familiarize themselves with Websleuths Terms of Service (aka The Rules, linked in my signature). Pay particular attention to the thread Social Media - Facebook, Twitter, etc.

Accusing another WS member of being involved in a crime or publicizing their personal information is a very serious violation of Websleuths TOS. Any member doing so will receive an automatic 1 month Time Out and if it recurs, Websleuths membership will be revoked.

There is no excuse for not knowing these rules. If you are not sure, private message a Mod or Admin to ask rather than posting and risk losing your WS account privileges.

I think with the a new face looking at the case sleuths hoped for a way forward, some of their questions addressed, however it seems like a bit of lip service, a publicity stunt "yes we will never forget Claudia" blah blah blah. However nothing is forth coming. Unfortunately there just isn't enough information to clearly identify a suspect or suspects - look all you want, speculate all you want - its highly unlikely anyone will be held to account - ever! Unless of course someone cracks under the pressure of guilt.

Anyone, who has managed to shut up for 12 years, will continue to do so, I believe. :(

I think the problem is that so much of the new comment and opinion have been covered previously over all 14 threads. There is so much fantastic content on WS regarding this case.

Without access to more footage or perhaps direct conversation with the CC team it is purely speculation. There is some fantastic contribution from people who have immersed themselves in this case. We can all introduce new ideas and opinions but without access to new footage the thread repeats.

Out of curiosity what is the route to discuss cases with the NYP CC team? Do WS have a nominated contact person for each case to speak to them?

There is links on the microsite - you can contact them via 111 - selecting north York’s , you can get in touch anon via crime stoppers - drop them an email, write a letter - what ever you feel most comfortable with. The team will talk to you in confidence. They will welcome input.

Do they actually welcome dialogue in the form of a discussion on the points raised on here? I would have thought that as the case is open the information would only flow one way and they wouldn’t confirm or deny for fear of jeopardising the case

Absolutely correct, you cannot expect the team to comment.

And there lies the problem. We are offering views, opinion and suggestion based on what information is made available to the public. It is all sensored, except in the case of interview with friends featuring in documentaries etc.
Let’s be honest ( in the case of CCTV) it is all vetted, mostly strategic and I suspect the majority is doctored.
I simply cannot understand if a case is cold why they wouldn’t be more inclined to release footage from another camera or provide more detail.
The lengths WS individuals have gone to in order to investigate CL’s disappearance are simply incredible. Possibly putting the NYP to shame as we do not have their resources.

What would be interesting is to approach Martin Brunt to get a clearer picture of his investigation and who warmed him off and why. Would he be more open to a conversation after all these years?

I would love to know which car was parked in front of the SUV on the evening of the 18th. Has it been looked into, discounted or even ignored. We have no idea. There are so many points of interest in this case it drives you around the bend

Its fustrating to be so restricted in what information and video footage we can have access to but when a case remains open this will always be the case.

I agree the footage of cctv appears to have been doctored, no surpise there the reasons why have been discussed here previously.
I disagree that interviews with friends in interviews and documentaries have not been censored in my opinon they would be fully aware af what can or cannot be said publicly.

You are correct that there are many points of interest in the case which only confirms that this is a complex case. Its crucial you keep an open mind when researching these points if you come to the case and are influenced by what others say rather than what your own research has confirmed it will inevietably put you in a tailspin.
In my opinion there are many elements in this case that offer a more honest view of just who Claudia was as a person and how she led her life ..
Personally I doubt the truth about her disappearance will not be made public for a number for years yet.

I never came here seeking fame or fortune so as long as I can satisfy myself to the best of my ability what I believe happened I will be content to wait, however the recent interview that JK gave when PL passed away when she remarks 'When Caudia left' for the first time showed a chink in the armour of the veil of mystery that has surrounded the case for so long.
If I could offer some encouragement I would say look and listen to the cctv and the witness sightings more carefully they are important pieces of the jigsaw or the police would not have included them in public appeals dont discard them because others have.
Keep an open mind its your most valuable investigative tool.

These are my opinions only

I’ve not seen those before (still reading thread #9) - are there any more?
I dont think so, I'm new to this, so I'm re-reading the threads as I absorb more of the details. Never mind Location, Location, Location, I want to know how to change the wall colour overnight while you are out.......
