So sad for your community.
Woman arrested on suspicion of murdering seven-year-old girl in a Greater Manchester park is detained under the Mental Health Act

Emily’s parents said: “Emily [Jones] was seven years old, our only child and the light of our lives. She was always full of joy, love and laughter. Emily had such a cheeky smile and was beautiful inside and out. She had a heart as big as her smile.
“Emily was never happier than when she was spending time with her family and friends. She was our own little social butterfly. Emily had a passion for the outdoors and loved to play any sport, even when she was wearing her pink sparkly dresses.
“We are beyond devastated that this random act of violence means that we will never get to see our beautiful little girl grow up into the wonderful young lady she was showing such promise of becoming.
“It is truly heartbreaking to wake up to a world without Emily in it and we cannot comprehend why this has happened.”
They thanked the members of the public who helped to detain the woman following the attack, as well as the emergency services, and they asked for privacy to grieve.
Parents pay tribute to 'social butterfly' aged seven stabbed to death
Dear me, what a beautiful little girl. Defies belief
My mind can't comprehend this crime. It's a nightmare.
You’d think someone that mentally ill- to stab a random little girl to death- would have been locked up by her family long ago. Good God. Did she recently stop taking her meds? Horrible.
I’m not familiar with mental healthcare in the UK, but in the US there is nothing that parents can do once their child turns 18 until a crime or self harm is committed. That’s the worry of every parent with a child with mental illness. There really is no way to be proactive, we can only react after the fact.
What a beautiful little girl so so sad.
their only child, their world.....how bloody devastating (not that her being an only makes a difference)
Such a cute little girl. RIP
