UK UK - Jack the Ripper, London 1888, East End, in and around Whitechapel District UNSOLVED

The man who discovered that Aaron Kosminski is Jack the Ripper, Russell Stephen Edwards, is a total fraud. He also claimed to have found the body of Keith Bennett, but it was just a publicity stunt for his book on the Moors Murders. \

I don't even think Kosminki is the one because he suffered from mental illness. Jack the Ripper seems more like a violent psychopath.

Russell Stephen Edwards is not the one "who discovered that Aaron Kosminski is Jack the Ripper." The Metropolitan Police did that likely in 1888.

True, but I believe Edwards was the one who gave the shawl in to be examined in the first place. I don't think anyone even thought CE had a shawl until then. His shady track record does harm the authenticity of the evidence and possibly even the study. I find this "development" extremely unconvincing, but we'll see.

I am amazed at how much Kominski looks like that AI picture of what the ripper probably looked like.

IMO, Jack the Ripper isn't any of the suspects mentioned by investigators or theorists and his real name has unfortunately been lost to time.

Experts still doubt Aaron Kominski is Jack the Ripper. A former curator of City of London Police's Crime Museum said that the shawl wasn't one of the items found at the crime scene.

Here's an article explaining this: Jack the Ripper Mystery solved

yes there is a lot of resistance to this theory being proved accurate, especially in the UK - one group I'm in is full of detractors, the other one is more pro Kasminski theory

what shady track record?

well theorists can be whacky but any name brought up by credible investigators/writers has me sit up and take a look

Upthread it was mentioned that this isn't the first time Edwards claimed to have solved a case. He claimed to have found the location of Keith Bennett's (the only still missing victim of the Moors murders) body, but he was lying. He only made those claims to promote his book on the case. If he's lied about past cases, we have every reason to believe he's lying about identifying JTR .

I researched and I don't think he was lying but rather convinced himself that the soil samples revealed the presence of human remains.
