The hunt for Jamie Cannon has drawn the attention of search and rescue specialists from over the Irish Sea.

A specialist team of five Search and Rescue dogs and their eight handlers have lent their support in the hunt for the 19-year-old who disappeared from his home in May.

Familiar with aiding the Coastguard in rescuing vulnerable and missing persons, the highly-trained 'victim recovery' dogs, were used to search the ICI plant in Stevenston on Sunday and Monday for clues of the missing Saltcoats teenager last weekend.

Ryan Gray, who organises K9 Search and Rescue NI, spoke to the Herald about the search: "We were joined by our Scottish colleagues K9 Search and Recovery Scotland, there were six of us, four dogs and two guys from Scotland, with one of their dogs.

"We've been following the case, it is quite a high profile case in Northern Ireland.

"An opportunity came when we were in Scotland doing some training with Search and Rescue teams across the UK, we said to Jamie's family were able to come on those dates.

"The family had given us some information about Jamie, and using that, we could profile him, it's a device called 'lost person behaviour' where we can figure out where people like Jamie may go and that's what we work on.

"Police Scotland were very helpful and they joined us on the Sunday, we started our search in the ICI."

The cousin of missing Saltcoats teen Jamie Cannon has issued an emotional plea on national radio this afternoon as the search enters its fifth month.

Jamie was last seen on Thursday, May 20 around 10am on Kinnier Road. He was reported missing on Saturday, May 22.

    [...]

Jamie's cousin Leanne Graham spoke to BBC Drivetime show this afternoon [Tuesday, September 21] about the efforts the family has gone to keep the 19-year-old in the public conscience: "Jamie is a typical young man, he just loved life and going to work at Cecchini's in Ardrossan and relaxing with his friends. He was learning bricklaying in college.

"It has been absolutely devastating just not knowing where he is. Each day we are just devastated he hasn't turned up at the house again. You just expect one day he will just walk back through the door.

"It is now 123 days since he was last seen."

When asked by presenter John Beattie about what is being done to look for Jamie, Leanne explained the efforts done in the Three Towns to search for her cousin, she said: "The whole family have been going out every day and searching along with the police.

"We've managed to get a team from Northern Ireland, K9 search and rescue who has been fundraising for as they are a charity.

"They have got more dogs than Police Scotland, they can cover large areas with dogs instead of relying on one dog."

    [...]

Leanne also spoke to the BBC about Jamie's last recorded movements and the reasons for the lack of footage since: "The last time he was seen was about half an hour after he left the house that morning [on May 22].

"He was on his way to college. That was the last sighting, he hasn't been picked up anywhere since.

"The tapes for the supermarkets nearby were looped over by the time the police got to them. We will never know if he got into a car.

"He hasn't turned his bank card, his phone hasn't been pinged, it was broken and his sim card wasn't put into a new phone."

When asked what she wants and what the public can do, Leanne concluded:

"I just want everybody to keep sharing the posts about Jamie we put up to try to get him home for Lynn and John and his two brothers.

"His mum is absolutely devastated, she is putting on a brave face but she is crumbling inside not having Jamie home.

"I just want him to walk through the door or the police find him sitting in somebody's house.

"Just come home, he won't be in any trouble. We just want him back with his brothers."

Jamie Cannon was on his way to college when he went missing in North Ayrshire 125 days ago.

The 19-year-old's phone was broken and he has not been in contact with his family since - something police said was "very out of character".

Officers have spent the last four months combing his home town Saltcoats, including the golf course where he was last seen.

But with a small number of police dogs available for the case, Jamie's family have taken up the search themselves.

His cousin, Leanne Graham, told BBC Radio Scotland's Drivetime with John Beattie programme that Jamie's "devastated" parents and brothers are "praying he walks through the door".

As well as studying brick laying in college, Jamie worked at a local Italian restaurant. Leanne described him as a "typical young man" who loved life and relaxing with his friends.

As for his mother Lynn, Leanne said she is "putting on a brave face, but she's crumbling inside" without her son. "He's not in any trouble, we just want him home," Leanne added.

Ch Insp Alan Paterson said the force remains "committed" to searching for him and are using all specialist resources available.

He said: "We are extremely grateful to the local community who continue to help us locate him. Officers have received a number of calls regarding Jamie since he was reported missing and all information received is investigated fully.

"We are in regular contact with his family and we are keeping them informed at every stage of our inquiries.

"This has been an incredibly difficult few months for them having to deal with not knowing where Jamie is and we are committed to following every line of inquiry available to us in order to find him."

The younger brother of missing Saltcoats teen Jamie Cannon has issued an emotional plea on his 16th birthday - over 130 days since he went missing.

Aiden Cannon took to social media using his mum's accounts to share a post asking people to keep sharing Jamie's face in order to raise awareness.

He said: "Jamie l would do anything just to hear you or to see you.

"Jamie all your family wants you here and your friends.

"Plz keep sharing this post all we want is my big brother to be safe and home xx"

A family friend said: "He just turned 16 and it's the first birthday that was celebrated without Jamie.

"Jamie always brought him his cake so this year was a different birthday he didn't want anyone to give him his cake."

Still seems odd to me that no one has mentioned his girlfriend/partner and their unborn child.

Yes, I agree. Unless the relationship had ended, and ended acrimoniously, and maybe a reason for his disappearance? We don't know the ins and outs, of course.

I only saw it mentioned, I think twice, early on and never since, which as you say, is odd.

The mum of a missing Scots teenager says she spends her days by the window desperately 'watching and waiting' for him to come home.

Lynn Cannon has spoken publicly for the first time, revealing the depths of her anguish as she approaches the six month anniversary of her 19-year-old son Jamie vanishing without a trace.

Emotional Lynn, 49, has shunned media interviews before now, too distraught to talk, but has now decided to speak out in the hope her son is out there somewhere and will read her words.

Speaking to the Daily Record, Lynn said her 'gut' tells her Jamie is still alive.

She said: "I feel like Jamie is out there alive somewhere. My gut feeling, or 'mother's instinct', whatever you want to call it, is telling me he is alive and has just taken himself away for a while.

"It might sound daft but it's a feeling I have.

"I just need to know that he is okay."

Lynn says while it would have been out of character for Jamie to hurt himself in any way, she initially 'lived in fear' that her eldest child done something to himself.

But she says as time has dragged on and no body or even trace of Jamie has ever been found, her feelings have changed.

She said: "When Jamie first went missing I lived in fear every day that he had gone off somewhere and hurt himself and I was terrified I would get that call to say his body had been found.

"But as the weeks went by that feeling passed. I started to think that maybe he has taken himself away to sort his head out and take some time for himself.

"I believe Jamie is alive. I just wish he would find a way to tell us."

The 6 month anniversary is coming around soon. I also agree about why the baby is never brought up. Also what is this from his Dad a week after Jamie went missing, in the Daily Record.
John reveals that Jamie is going to be a dad in July but has been going through "a few troubled weeks".

We're assuming the baby progressed to a full term pregnancy. Either the mother doesn't want to be in the spotlight right now, or she and the baby experienced a medical emergency (maybe related to Jamie's disappearance). I think it's safe to say that if there is not MSM mention of a child, then there isn't one related to the case.

The heartbroken mum of missing Scot Jamie Cannon has told how her 'heart aches' as the search for the missing teen enters its third month.

The 19-year-old, from Saltcoats, Ayrshire, was last seen on Thursday, May 20, on Kerr Avenue before being spotted at Auchenharvie Golf Course later that same day.

He disappeared on his way to college but his bank accounts were seemingly untouched and his phone was switched off.

Massive police searches have taken place with desperate family members urging Jamie to come home almost daily.

Writing on social media, mum Lynn described 'sleepless nights' with siblings desperate for Jamie to return.
