Found Deceased UK - Jesus Moreno, 41, Spanish co-founder of Piglove Brewing Co in Leeds, W Yorks, last seen getting bus to Harrogate at 6.17am, 1 Aug 2022

Jesus' Facebook

As per the earlier discussion on this thread, I also believe Jesus may have Venezuelan heritage, possibly with family from the Barquisimeto region. This information is from general chit chat on Venezuelans in the UK Facebook group. Will keep looking for confirmation of this from an official source.

I think JM went to Netherby, pretty sure this CCTV pic is him walking away from the footpath that leads there.

I've circled the camera but it's not that clear on streetview.

The bus stop to the CCTV is 0.7 miles and there's 1 hour 35 minutes between the sightings. Using footpaths JM could have gone to Netherby at a distance of 3.38 miles which is 1 hour and 7 minutes at 3 miles per hour.

Possible route:

Source for footpaths and bridleways:

I just don't understand what he's done afterwards, There's a bus stop right next to the CCTV and he could have been back in Leeds for 9AM.

Good spot with the CCTV. Although if he did cover this route, which looks very possible, he may have accessed the footpath just opposite Weeton Lane J/W Harrogate Road, a few metres north of the disembarkation bus stop and approximately 250m north of Red House Farm.

If Jesus covered this route then I suggest either he knew it (had walked it before) or had a map. I would suggest his clothing is not that of someone going for a walk who was likely to use a paper map. His choice of footwear, jeans and T-shirt (cotton?) would indicate that.

We know he was without a phone so he was unlikely to be able to make use of mapping/route technology.

Looking at the map and taking into account where Jesus was last seen, and the route he may have taken on public footpaths/bridleways, including a river section from Netherby to Harewood Bridge, I believe that he is drawn to riverside walks.

I think that there is a strong possibility he continued on a river walk by crossing the road and taking the westbound path pretty much near to/on the north bank from the west parapet of the bridge.

This footpath heads west and into the wooded area at Rougemont Carr, this wooded area is worthy of a detailed search!

Police are continuing to search the area where a man who went missing from Leeds more than two weeks ago was last seen.

Jesus Moreno, aged 41, was reported missing on August 2 with concerns raised for his welfare.

He was found to have caught a Harrogate-bound number 36 bus from Leeds bus station at 6.10am on Monday, August 1, and got off on the A61 Harrogate Road in the vicinity of Swindon Lane near Dunkeswick at 6.39am.

He was seen on CCTV near to Harewood Bridge at 8.14am that morning, and further CCTV showed him entering a field on the Leeds side of the bridge, opposite Harewood Bridge Sawmills.

He is known to have previously visited nearby beauty spots on the River Wharfe at Netherby.

Police search advisers have been overseeing a search of the area with support from specialist marine and underwater search officers, who have checked the surface of the waterway down to Tadcaster.

While this remains the last confirmed sighting of him, officers are continuing to carry out enquiries into other potential sightings reported by members of the public in other parts of Leeds and elsewhere the country.

Detective Inspector Dan Bates, of Leeds District CID, said: “It has been more than two weeks now since the last confirmed sighting of Jesus at Harewood Bridge, and his family and friends are understandably very concerned about him.

“This remains the last confirmed location we have for him, and we have been focusing our efforts on specialist searches of the land around this area and along the River Wharfe.

“We have been contacted by members of the public with various potential sightings of him in other places and other parts of the country, but none of those sightings have been confirmed by CCTV or other means.

“We are continuing to support his family and friends who remain anxious for any news, and we are committed to doing everything we can to establish his whereabouts.

“We would like to hear from anyone who has any information that could assist us as we continue to search for him.”

Jesus Moreno is described as 5ft 7ins tall with long dark curly hair and a beard. He was wearing black jeans and a black t-shirt and carrying a black rucksack.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Leeds District CID via 101 quoting log 1061 of August 2 or online via www.westyorkshire.police.uk/101livechat

The footpath opposite the mill heads east along the south Bank of the River Wharfe and joins the Ebor Way (green dash with diamonds) at 'The Fitts', which continues along the river Bank for approximately 5km until it joins the A659 at East Keswick.

I wonder if he really had lost his phone - was this pre planned and claiming he had lost his phone part of his plan? JMO

It's one of those unusual coincidences that makes one think must be connected in some way.

I do wonder where he may have lost his phone. The day before JM went missing was a Sunday. Maybe JM had been to this area of the River Wharfe and believed he lost it there and went there early the following day, to try and find it. Maybe he met with an accident whilst there looking for it?

I also wonder if the phone has been found/located, as it could hold useful info, even if JM did not take it with him.

Do we know why Jesus (and, indeed, his business partner Marcus) have made previous visits to the Netherby area? My initial thought was wild swimming, but his clothes and rucksack would surely have been located by now if he'd got into difficulty whilst doing this.

No new info from what I can tell, but stressing river search in Tadcaster, approx 12 miles from were JM was last seen.

I suspect the stress on Tadcaster is for headline value as the article is from the York Press. Journalists always have to find a point of geographical reference in their distribution area.

The distance to Tadcaster along the River Wharfe from where JM was last seen is considerable. I suspect that the river is in low flow conditions due to the lack of rain, it also meanders significantly, which often results in objects getting caught up.

Cold water shock is the big danger in open water. It's generally the catalyst to drowning. It's been even more prominent of late as the difference between the air temperature and the water temperature has been even greater with the recent scorchers.

The River Wharfe also has many dangers. Netherby Deep, is notoriously dangerous, and even more so the section known as 'the Strid' just north of Bolton Abbey.

The sound advice for all is NOT to swim in open water unless it is properly organised and safety precautions have been taken. The risks are multiple, varied and ever changing.

Like any outdoor venture in mountains, hills, moorland, rivers, lakes etc, know the risks and how to manage them.

Good point - i hadn't thought of him going to look for his phone.

Search teams have been checking the River Wharfe as police continue to look for a missing man.

Jesus Moreno, 41, owner of the Piglove Brewing Co in Leeds, was last seen on 1 August, West Yorkshire Police said.

Officers said a number of potential sightings had been reported in Leeds and other parts of the country, but none had been confirmed.

Renewing the appeal for help to find Mr Moreno the force said his friends and family were "very concerned".

Det Insp Dan Bates said the search was focused on the area around Harewood Bridge, but specialist marine and underwater search officers had been checking the River Wharfe between Netherby and Tadcaster.

He said: "We are continuing to support his family and friends who remain anxious for any news, and we are committed to doing everything we can to establish his whereabouts.

"We would like to hear from anyone who has any information that could assist us as we continue to search for him."
