Murder probe after body found in shallow grave in Kew garden in search for missing woman
A body has been found buried in a shallow grave in a garden in Kew during the search for a missing woman, police have said.
Laureline Garcia-Bertaux, 34, who was living in Richmond, was reported missing after she did not turn up for work on Monday.
Police have now launched a murder investigation after a body was found in a shallow grave in Darell Road late on Wednesday evening.
Scotland Yard said formal identification has not taken place but Ms Garcia-Bertaux's family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
A Met Police spokesman said: “During the late evening of Wednesday, 7 March, officers located a body in a shallow grave in a garden in Darell Road, Kew.
“Although formal identification has not taken place, Laureline's family have been informed of developments and are being supported by specially trained officers.
“A forensic crime scene is in place. A post-mortem examination will be held in due course.
“There have been no arrests.
“A murder investigation has been launched by Detectives from the Met's Homicide and Major Crime Command.”
Police had appealed for help to trace Ms Garcia-Bertaux, a French national, earlier this week describing her disappearance as " highly out of character".
