A neighbour could be a real possibility as she was due to move out. It would have seem normal to come to say goodbye if they were in good terms...

I wonder if she retained a friendly relationship with her ex?

I guess if it was her last night there, she could have felt safer giving someone her address than she would otherwise.

Just a thought, if she was moving out..wouldn't she be busy arranging furniture removals guys etc over the weekend-packing up etc.
Would she have had quotes from removal people or were her friends going to help her move out?
Maybe the only way to get a sofa or large item out of flat would be via the garden route if front door was too narrow...

I would also add revenge or more likely anger as possible motive.

Here is a link to study carried out at the Finnish National Bureau of Investigation into strangulation and offender profiling.

It depends on whether the strangulation was by ligature or by hand or arm.

A few points of interest -

Strangulation accounts for 10-20% of all homicidal deaths in various countries

It "may be" due to the positions of the murderer and victim [...] which makes it easy and convenient and prevents victim from crying out

In 59 strangulation cases (focus of study) -

Average victim age was 35.6 years
Average age of offender was 34.11 years

    stranger 1% - manual
    family member 25% - manual 80% ligature 20%
    ex-intimate 27.1% - manual 75% ligature 25%
    acquaintance 45.8% - manual 51.9% ligature 48.1%

    15% of offenders were psychotic
61% of offenders had a personality disorder
12% of offenders had some other disorder (depression etc)
12% of offenders no mental illness

66% of offenders had alcohol dependence
14% of offenders had drug dependence

At time of murder - 72% of offenders were intoxicated and 10% were under influence of drugs

58% of offenders had criminal history

The report goes into further detail but I don't have the time to paraphrase it all - it's interesting.

Very interesting indeed, somewhat surprised by some of the statistics like 72% of perps are intoxicated and the high number ( 45.8%) of people strangled by acquaintances.
For obvious reasons, posting your link in the Barry and Honey Sherman thread, thanks

Yes I think the conclusions drawn regarding intoxication were that the majority of strangulations happen in the spur of the moment during an argument and alcohol is a contributory factor. I'd guess the Shermans don't fall into that category.

We would like to share our deepest sympathies with Laureline Garcia-Bertaux’s family and friends. She was a wonderfully creative, caring and charismatic woman, full of energy and joie de vivre. That is the way she will always remembered by her friends and colleagues at Golin.

That's good they have arrested someone. I think it must have been someone she knew.

Oh how terrible, I feel sick. So glad they've managed to track him down and arrest him but how terrifying that a murderer can manage to flee the country so quickly.

Kew murder: Man arrested in Estonia suspected of killing French filmmaker in London

A man has been arrested in Estonia on suspicion of murder after a French filmmaker’s body was found in a shallow grave in southwest London.

The 32-year-old was detained in Tallinn at about 12.25pm on Wednesday, the Metropolitan Police said, on suspicion of killing Laureline Garcia-Bertaux.
    ---
Ms Garcia-Bertaux had been living in the Darell Road home since April 2018, and was reported missing after she did not turn up at work on Tuesday last week.
    ---
The Met said the man was being held at a police station in Estonia and that it would seek to begin extradition proceedings.

In a statement, the force said: "Met homicide detectives have been working with Eurojust in the Hague and police colleagues in Europol to trace and detain the man sought in connection with the investigation."
