GUILTY UK - Lorraine Cox, 32, found deceased, Exeter, 31 August 2020 *arrest*

Police have been seen searching a long slither of land on the River Exe this morning, close to Exeter St Davids rail station.

A number of DevonLive readers spotted a large number of police officers at the scene along with police vehicles and what appeared to be Crime Scene Investigators on the land which sits between Exwick playing fields and Bonhay Road.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson told DevonLive the operation was part of the ongoing further searches in relation to the Lorraine Cox murder investigation.

Azum Rasul Mohammed Mangori, also known as Christopher Mayer, has been charged with the murder of Ms Cox between August 30 and September 9 this year.

He is further accused of the prevention of lawful and decent burial between the same dates.

Mangori, aged 23, of no fixed abode, denies both charges and is due to stand trial at Exeter Crown Court on March 1.

Lorraine Cox
Police launched a murder probe on September 9, closing off Mary Arches Street in the city centre and erecting forensic tents.

The investigation centred around the back of Bodrum Kebab House which is located on the corner of Fore Street and Mary Arches Street.

Police retained a presence on the street for several weeks and also conducted searches at several other locations in and around the city.

On September 29, police confirmed a body found in Exeter was that of Ms Cox.

An inquest into her death was opened and adjourned by HM Coroner, Exeter while the criminal process continued.

Apologies for the length of above link, which appeared in Devon live news today. I couldn't work out how to copy just the link to it on my phone.
Strange that searches are continuing? The river and floodplains around that area have been affected badly by recent rain etc. Maybe the river revealed something of interest?

''The 24-year-old, also known as Christopher Mayer, allegedly killed the victim before using her SIM card to send messages pretending she was alive.''

''Mr Laws said there was CCTV evidence that showed them together and other evidence showing she had been killed and cut up in his room.

Mr Mangori was born in a Kurdish area of Iraq and had been living in Exeter since July 2020.

The court heard Mr Mangori had researched how to cut up a body online and had watched a video about dismemberment in the days before the killing''

So it was just one evil person who killed that poor girl? I seem to remember that they took about five people in for questioning. At least they sorted it out in the end and got him off the street. I hope he gets convicted and never gets let out of prison, he is one scary individual. Moo.

Very scary, the accused had only been in Exeter for a month (July 2020) before the alleged murder in August 2020.

That stood out to me too. And that he was looking up stuff before this.

PTSD? Monster created by war trauma? Do you need visa from Iraq or did he come with the thousands of people fleeing war? Jmo not trying to defend him. He's a monster moo

The owner of the kebab shop was one of the people charged, he's since had all charges dropped and has come out saying he is completely innocent and ruined his life . Possibly the others arrested were innocent and just happened to work in the shop ?
