A 12-year-old girl who was found dead at a property died from a stab wound, police said.
Named locally as Louise Nash, she was found dead with her mother Jillu Nash, 44, in Great Waldingfield, near Sudbury, on Thursday.
Suffolk Police previously said her mother died from pressure to the neck.
The force said a 46-year-old man, who is in hospital with serious injuries, had been arrested on suspicion of two counts of murder.
Police said a post-mortem examination on Tuesday concluded the girl died from a stab wound to the abdomen.
Formal identification procedures had not yet taken place in respect of both victims, the force added.
Detectives said the man remained at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge under arrest, with his condition currently described as stable.
They said they were treating it as a "contained incident, with no wider threat to the community", and they understood all three individuals were known to each other.
Floral tributes have been left outside the property.
One of the cards on the flowers described "two beautiful souls taken so tragically" and said the mother and child would be "so missed".
The parish council wrote: "We are so sorry for your loss. It has been such a terrible time for your family - our love and prayers are with you."
A book of condolence has also been opened in St Lawrence's Church.

Suffolk Police said as there had been "previous, but not recent" contact between one of the victims and the force, the matter had been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
The force also said a gas leak was reported at the address, which required neighbouring properties to be evacuated before it was made safe.

Detectives investigating the deaths of a mother and daughter from Great Waldingfield last month have charged a 46-year-old man with two counts of murder.

Officers were called at just after 9.55am on Thursday 8 September, to reports of concerns for the safety of individuals at a property in Heath Estate.

Entry was gained to the address and a 12-year-old girl and 44-year-old woman were found deceased inside. Subject to confirmation at formal inquest proceedings, they have been identified as Jillu Nash and her daughter Louise Nash.

A Home Office post-mortem examination in respect of Jillu Nash concluded her cause of death was pressure on the neck. A Home Office post-mortem examination in respect of Louise Nash determined the cause of her death to be a stab wound to the abdomen.

A 46-year-old man was detained at the crime scene with serious injuries and taken to hospital for treatment, where he remained under police arrest for over five weeks. He was transferred to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning yesterday evening, Saturday 15 October.

Peter Nash, of Heath Estate, Great Waldingfield has subsequently been charged with two counts of murder. He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear before Ipswich Magistrates’ Court tomorrow, Monday 17 October.
