    Have to wonder - my best guess is that they haven't got all the results back from the medical assessments. Can't think of any other reason for having 3 pre trial hearings.

    Whatever has happened, the hearing is over.
    There is now another hearing in Court 1 ( same Judge ) which began at 14.12 hrs

    A 30-year-old man has pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of 16-year-old Louise Smith, who was found dead in woodland in #Havant after disappearing on VE Day. Shane Mays is charged with the murder of the teenager, which he denies.

    Wondering if that was why he had the 3 pre trial hearings. Was his Counsel trying to get a manslaughter charge accepted ?

    Has anyone found any reporters at court via twitter apart from the one I posted above?

    That Portsmouth news site is absolutey terrible, virtually unusable.

    Trial about to begin
    Today’s court proceedings are set to commence at 10.30am - though the court clerk says it may be delayed by a few minutes.

    Jury to be sworn in
    The members of the jury were selected by the court yesterday - this morning 12 will be sworn in plus two extra members, then the trial will get underway.

    Who’s who in the trial
    The trial of Shane Mays is expected to last around four weeks, according to the judge, Mrs Justice Juliet May.

    Prosecuting is James Newton-Price QC, with Andrew Langdon QC defending Mays.

    Mays, 30 of Somerborn Drive, Leigh Park, denies the murder of Louise Smith, but has admitted manslaughter.
